Isn’t a timetable bad period? I mean, I wouldn’t trust whoever’s leaking these stories to the media to keep something like ‘secret timetables’ a secret. Best to kill the whole notion of a timetable before it becomes military policy.

In a war, a timetable is an impossibility, by the nature of war itself, there is only retreat. Now if this were a 'mission' with a stated specific and carried out goal, perhaps a timetable would be applicable. I hate this war, or whatever it is. But we can't leave the innocent of Iraq worse off than we found them.

I wish it were otherwise. In the end, we'll probably just bring millions and millions of them here. And many won't be innocents.

When the Civil War started, Lincoln called up troops for 3 months. He thought that was all it was going to take.

War doesn't happen on anyone's timetable.
