Students for Sam Brownback is reporting that they have the inside scoop on a huge (50,000 homes) new Iowa Poll that shows Sam Brownback in 3rd place:
Results from Respondents who intend to vote in the January 2008 Republican Presidential Caucus:
35.26% of respondents intend to vote for Rudy Giuliani.
19.09% of respondents intend to vote for John McCain
6.60% of respondents intend to vote for Sam Brownback.
5.89% of respondents intend to vote for Mike Huckabee.
5.07% of respondents intend to vote for Mitt Romney.
28.09% of respondents are undecided or expressed no preference on whom to vote for in the January 2008 Republican Presidential Caucus.
No I did vote for GHWB. But in hind sight I think Perot was better. I stayed on the reservation then, but not now.
I'd like to be on the Rudy ping list, if you don't mind.
The "Iowa Poll" is conducted for the Des Moines Register and I can't recall who the organization is that does the polling. Expect to see a lot of them going forward.
Sure! Welcome!
As I have said most of those hysterically opposed to Guliani are not even Republicans. Though they pretend to be "Christian Conservatives".
I am a conservative Catholic independent. But my vote counts just the same as yours.
Well I can't agree with you there at all. In my opinion, GHWB would have been far better than eight years of Clinton. Perot never had a chance and the Reformed party dissolved into the Deformed party and fist fights. I've watched elections closely since 1968 and actually have moved more TOWARD being ON the reservation. The third party efforts I've seen on the presidential level have always amounted to nothing at best and handing the election to the opposite party at worst (e.g., Wallace, Anderson, Perot, Nader). If third parties ever want to get a foothold on a national level they should start with House candidates first and then build a small contituency in Congress. As things are now, they are just the tools of the other party.
I am done voting for the lessor of two evils that can win, but instead I will vote for who I think should win. I know I will never get 100% of what I want, but with Rino Rudy I do not even get 25%.
Agree. I think slowly the Green Party has emerged to be the closest to a strong 3rd party by winning several state house seats. Still, to be able to have a viable Presidential candidate, even Green Party is still far away.
Looks like you should get an early start. Constitution Party it is.
But the voice of a non-Republican does not mean as much to the Party as does that of a loyal Republican.
You belong to the <2%ers who have been chronic complainers about the GOP. There is no argument that you have every right to be such but putting your complaints in proper perspective is appropriate.
"Once people learn about Rino Rudy they will look elsewhere."
Sorry, that theory got shot down by the latest USA Today poll showing Rudy gaining 10% in a month. A month in which most all media stories about him mentioned his moderate views on certain issues.
If it's Rudy, I'll vote for him because I think he'd be better than Hillary, Obama, Edwards or anyone else in that party. I'm more angry at McCain than Rudy because of his actions in a Republican controlled Senate with a Republican President. That being said, I'd have to really hold my nose on him but will do it if I have to because I know a Republican or a Democrat will win. I won't do anything to help the Democrats no matter how good it might feel. Yeah I'm a good boy for the GOP (bah, bah) but I refuse to be duped into being a good boy for the Dems. Just my view. Again, no offense meant.
None taken.
Agreed about the Green party. If they ever get close to a viable presidential candidate, that person will have a lot of answering to do about the violence committed in their name.
No candidate keeps gaining strength based on name recognition only.
Rudy had NR before he announced his candidacy and was a strong contender. Since he announced, and has been making many appearances and speeches, he is gaining popularity based on the issues as well as his ideology.
The theory that people will realize who he is after they "learn" more about him and he consequently, will fall flat, are well beyond that point.
The majority of Republicans know what is most important in '08, and that is keeping the country out of the clutches of the Democrats and they are doing so, by supporting the candidate who has the best chances of winning.
People have been learning more about Rudy the last few weeks and his poll numbers keep going up, quickly I might add.
Then the party will split and he will lose.
What? Nobody in Iowa will vote for Dunken Donut?
LOL!
