SCTV was deliberately sabotaged by NBC. What happened is that SCTV had consistently better material than SNL. So NBC offered SCTV a deal to appear on its network. Then what they did is broadcast it in the early AM when hardly anybody was awake and then cancelled it due to "poor ratings."
SCTV is still the funniest show of its kind.
