Barack Hussein Obama fired back at Autralian PM John Howard today, invoking the familiar nutroots chickenhawk meme.
Responding to Howards criticism of Obamas Iraq surrender-by-May plan, Obama lashed out at Howard by minimizing the Australian troop commitment of 1400, and said that if Howard believes so strongly in the American effort, he should commit an additional 20,000 Australian troops. (I have been reminded that stategic redeploment does not mean surrender, but failing to see the difference, I have decided to continue to use my original characterization.)
Perhaps Obama thinks Howard is an easy target. Given Obamas lack of experience on the world stage, I dont doubt this one bit. Ive written previously about the absence of gravitas in the Obama campaign, and this comment is simply more evidence that he truly doesnt get it, and is in no way ready for prime time. Hillarys attack machine must be licking their chops. Obama is making it easy for them. But, I suspect we havent heard the last word yet from PM Howard.

Howard is not as PC as Bush .. and he will eat Obama-Osama for lunch!! I LOVE IT!!
This product of the third-world certainly has a big mouth. Since he has zero experience in anything except being black in Chicago, he is going to implode and leave nothing but a black hole where his Leftist presidential bid once was.
I'm sure Mr Howard is less than impressed. If he responds at all(you can't swat every fly)I think it will be scathing.
PM Howard just made us a campaign ad in the event Osama-Obama is the nominee.
Nice.
"Chickenhawk" is a term used by people who want to deflect the criticism that they are chicken.
Classy guy, that Osama Hussein, and thickskinned as well.
obama begins to impress international leaders..ROFL..
Is this how he intends to conduct foreign policy if elected? By upsetting our foreign allies?
Perhaps Obama should saddle-up to Iraq and go Whamma..looks young and fit...
I saw Obama make the statement on Fox.
However, the AP claims it was his aide:
Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs, traveling with the senator in Iowa, said Howard's words were misguided.
"The United States has sacrificed more than 3,000 brave young men and women and $400 billion, only to find ourselves mired in the middle of a sectarian civil war," he said. "Even Republicans ... know that more of the same is only going to attract more terrorists to Iraq and make our country less safe."
Gibbs went on to say that Howard was not in a position to be overly critical.
"If Prime Minister Howard truly believes what he says, perhaps his country should find its way to contribute more than just 1,400 troops so some American troops can come home," he said. "It's easy to talk tough when it's not your country or your troops making the sacrifices."

I believe my own eyes. Oh goody, here's a repeat on Fox.
Really! Just what we need--alienating allies. (Not that Hillary would be an improvement, just saying...)
I love PM Howard
Chickenhawk is infinitely better than Chickensh!t.
Good article-thanx.Barack is(imo)making a very serious mistake, but a very understandable one. He's begining to believe the msm's opinion that he is a person of intellect.A political"heavyweight".I haven't(yet)heard or read anything from or about Obama that indicates anything other than a talking head who's main appeal is that he's part black and photogenic.
YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
My, my...how presidential.
