Are guns, abortion, and the homosexual agenda all that remain of conservative thought?

No, but they are important issues. For example I cannot trust the leadership of this country, to a person that supports the murder of innocent human beings and condones the lifestyle of the sodomites. In my opinion, holding either one of those positions disqualify someone for serving in office. Rudy holds both and that's before we even get to his utter disregard for the 2nd Amendment.

I do not care if Hillary will win - under no circumstances will I vote for someone who supports abortion or sodomy.

DH posted this on another thread and I think it belongs right here:

I'm not yet sold on Rudy, but -- I'll take a crack at that question.

Because 'political conservatives' are for lower taxes, less govt intrusion into private lives, etc. All the 'Contract with America' stuff, if you remember that. 'Political conservatives' don't care about gays, would be pro-choice, etc. Which is why the contract didn't say a thing about those issues.

Political conservatives are the 'base' of the R party that gave them the 'Contract with America' win. If the 'Social Conservatives' who want govt control of social, personal issues like this are taking over the R party, then the R party doesn't stand a chance of winning in 08.

How's that?

Absolutely not. Abortion and the Homosexual Agenda are the KEY points that the Religious Right find to be unacceptable and non-negotiable under any terms. You can also add stem cell research, freedom of worship and euthanasia as well. Guns, Amnesty for Illegal Border Invaders and other social topics are not Religious Right issues, but many find those also unacceptable and non-negotiable.
