Thanks, PKM!!!
Go RUDY Go!
Now what makes you say that? (((Nudge Nudge Wink Wink)))
Bless you heart - listen, don't waste you time on this man (TommyDale) - there is something tragic in his past - the venom that spews out of him is very sad.
Best to let him go - his postings speak only of his personal situation.
Something crazy in them there hills - you know?
Neither would I, but if I understand Giuliani's position correctly, he desires to have these issues battled out in court, not in Congress, and ultimately to leave them to the states to decide. On social issues, I'm more interested in the kind of people a presidential candidate would nominate to the courts than I am their person views. Rudy can be "pro-choice," but if he nominates people like Alito, Roberts, and Scalia, his person views would be of little concern.
Is there a Part II to this? I'd be interested in seeing the rest of this writer's comments.
DH posted this on another thread and I think it belongs right here:
I'm not yet sold on Rudy, but -- I'll take a crack at that question.
Because 'political conservatives' are for lower taxes, less govt intrusion into private lives, etc. All the 'Contract with America' stuff, if you remember that. 'Political conservatives' don't care about gays, would be pro-choice, etc. Which is why the contract didn't say a thing about those issues.
Political conservatives are the 'base' of the R party that gave them the 'Contract with America' win. If the 'Social Conservatives' who want govt control of social, personal issues like this are taking over the R party, then the R party doesn't stand a chance of winning in 08.
How's that?
Part II will be coming soon. We will post it when it is on the RedState Website with a link to Part !. It should be good because he should be covering the other issues. :-)
Looks like Part II is coming later from what I can see. I will be going back checking throughout the day.
THAT, is quite good. The prospect of the government being in control of personal issues is a bit scary given the history of some countries during the last century.
I wanted to go on record that I had no intention of ever replying again!
Agree with everything you have said!
Now everyone will move to the blog site! :)
And it might be helpful to post this, cuz folks on another thread are claiming there was social issues in the CwA:
FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress;
SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;
THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;
FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs;
FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;
SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public;
SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;
EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.
When I read that on the other thread, I thought described what I have been saying for sometime but much stronger. It is scarey and that is exactly what these people want.
Here in OK, some of the Republican State Reps wanted to tell the OKC Library where to place gay books on the shelves. That to me was a community problem not something I want our elected Reps to do.
Thank You! Perfect place to post it too! I posted a whole thread about the Contract with America several months ago when social conservatives did the same thing they are doing now. Thanks for posting the Contract and what it did say. They have a tendency to spin on here to suit their agenda!
You have a very interesting idea here -- forget the 'social/political' conservative wording. Might it be interesting to coin the term 'Contract with America' conservative?
That would be interesting.
I think I'm going to follow your lead, and use the CwA like a bludgeon in the next few days. Just to see what happens. :-D
That's a terrific idea! I love it -- Contract with America Conservatives!
Ed Goeas and the Tarrance Group just signed on to the Rudy campaign today. He was a consultant to Mary Fallin here in OK and got her through a tough primary and run-off. She was on the right message all the time!
I hit send too soon...
To conclude - I would not vote for someone who was pro-abortion and/or pro-sodomy for dog catcher, let alone for President.
The WOT is the most important issue facing the country at this time, without winning it the rest of the issues are moot.
Great article!
