The liberals are only a part of the problem. The "perfumed princes", many of them "ringknockers" from the service academies, in uniform and JAGS who never ever go outside the wire are far more insidious to fighting effectiveness. There are way too many officers and JAGs in the military.
When I was deployed to Kuwait (we were a navy small boat security force) we had about $1 million (base pay) in useless payroll between officers and do-nothing senior enlisteds.
All of the things the guy said about the military, officers, and commander's is spot on as far as I experienced it. We really haven't learned our lessons from Vietnam, IMO.
