It wasn't based on his radio clip, since he never gave it to the Swift Vets and they never heard it. He just told their PR rep about it and suggested they do likewise. Huh? One of the Swift Boat vets was FEATURED in his clip. Strange coincidence that their PR rep was told about it and the final commercial was almost identical to the original radio clip. Even the segue from Edwards to the Swiftboat vets was IDENTICAL.
I'm not arguing here just for the sake of argument but to set the historical RECORD straight.

One small correction. The original clip on the radio as I remembered featured one Swift Boat Vet not several of them.

The ads weren't identical. Not even Craig claims that.
I can see you're having a tough time letting go of this, but my previous posts explain what actually happened. Unless, of course, everybody involved on the Swift Vets' end is lying to me to avoid giving credit to a little-known radio guy.
Based on my experience with them, I consider that possibility most unlikely.
To: Interesting Times
Did you actually listen to the original radio clip? The similarity is eerie. They aren't exactly identical but I did hear Brian Craig say he contacted the Swift Boat vets and offered his clip for them to use as a basis for the TV commercial.

I only cried once at a dentist office. It wasn't from a tooth being pulled. My teeth were only being cleaned but the female dentist had the most HORRIBLE case of bad breath imaginable. I mean it was so bad that I cried. There was no escape. For over half an hour I was trapped. It was like torture.
An Italian barber on Wheelus Air Base, Tripoli, Libya, did the same for me in 1956. He obviously enjoyed the medicinal benefits of garlic.

I asked Craig for the clip, and he said he didn't think he still had it. He also said that the man featured in his ad was not a Swift boat veteran but a POW.
If you somehow lay hands on a copy I'd be interested in hearing it, but I really don't think it was a factor. There's just no way the Swift Vets weren't going to jump on Edwards' "...spend just three minutes with the men who served with him 30 years ago..." the instant they heard about it.

It's possible that Kerry is voting to quit before voting to run.

And what about Nat Trayger's account?
I think part of the problem is that Brian Craig sounds somewhat asocial. A normal person would love to bask in the acclaim of his idea being used for the most successful campaign commercial in history. However, Craig seems so asocial that he would hate the acclaim because it would mean he would have to interact with a bunch of people in real life.

Brian Craig is so strange that once I called him up and stated how much I loved the interview that Steve Kane did with Bev Harris. Then when I suggested that he might want to archive such great clips online, he got upset with me. Go figure.

...."It's possible that Kerry is voting to quit before voting to run"....
Kind of like voting for the $86 million before you vote against the $86 million. Geez, with logic like his, it IS amazing that he is not president!

The problem with the claim that others created the original Swift Boat Commercial is that the ORIGINAL clip that Brian Craig played that is almost identical in format to the later TV commercial. Also Brian Craig has stated that he contacted the Swift Boat Vets about using his clip as a basis for a TV commercial. Then there is Nat Trayger's account reprinted here. Finally, I say to any reporters, researchers, and/or historians out there...check the ORIGINAL clip that Brian Craig played on the radio. I think you can hear it by contacting WNN Radio.
Okay, this might not be all that big of a deal but as a history buff, I do want to see the historical record on this set straight.

Yeah, if you are a frequent caller, you get labeled a "chronic caller" by Brian. Ironically, his show DEPENDS on chronic callers.
