Democrats + Socialist = Majority

Welcome to Washington By The Directors Posted in Congress — Comments (108) / Email this page » / Leave a comment » As the sun rises on the United States, the Democrats take over both houses of Congress -- aided in the Senate by an unrepentant socialist, Bernie Sanders, and numerous ideological socialists in the House who run on the Democrat banner.

Republicans will be in the minority and will have little power in the House, though conservatives can take comfort in the leadership of Jeb Hensarling at the RSC. In the Senate, Republicans will rely on Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to lead them. They will have an arsenal of parliamentary weapons to protect the country from Democrat initiatives and can ultimately rely, we hope, on the President's veto pen.

Republicans should be mindful that voters rebelled against their failure to police their own, their big spending, and their willingness to sell short what it means to be an American. It should benefit Republicans that Democrats, though they say they have learned their lessons, have so far acted as if they haven't.

Democrats have failed to censure William Jefferson of Louisiana ("In his freezer" to quote Moe) and have seen their own Speaker push corrupt Democrats like John Murtha to the forefront of leadership. They have talked a tough game on earmarks, but are already out demanding $1000 contributions from lobbyists to "welcome" Nancy Pelosi to the Speaker's chair.

Many of us will turn our attention to 2008. But at RedState, we intend to fight. We will fight against government largesse, we will fight against Democrats intent on doing to Iraq what they did to Vietnam, and we will fight our own if our own choose to ignore the obvious lessons of 2006.

To the Democrats, we bid you welcome to the majority. And here at RedState, we fight on against you and your socialist cohorts. Oh, and now that you've got one branch of government, we dare you to try to use it without consulting the GOP.

Good luck! The moderates will be out wringing their hands and telling you to "just get along". But screw them--they lost conservatives the last election. Write your rep; even if he is a dem and write letters to the editors exposing the dems lies. With luck the democrats will unseat themselves.

The GOP's failures, both commission and omission is why they are now the minority. If the deal is Dems + Socialistas = Majority, the other side of the equation is GOP - Conservatives = Stupidity (loss)

The Democrats had a minority and still managed to block oil drilling in ANWR, blocked meaningful immigration enforcement legislation, managed to block several federal judicial appointments, block social security reform, and effectively interfere in the war on terror, especially in Iraq.

So the Republican minority has the ability to return the favor. Congress is lethargic anyhow. That is it's nature.
A democrat controlled do nothing congress can be voted out as quickly as a Republican do nothing congress.
We should worry when congress actually starts to accomplish something. As for their agenda, a lot of speculation, but who knows?

Socialism is a disease. Only a person of less-than-normal mental capacity could take it seriously.

It honestly boggles my mind that anyone could reject capitalism.

Try reading some Hayek. He realized that socialism is an error that intelligent, moral people are especially susceptible to. If you think socialists tend to be stupid people, you are mistaken. Misguided yes; stupid no.

Misguided yes; stupid no.

The fundamental concept of economics is that the private sectors actually CREATE money while government workers and trial lawyers do not.

Socialists do not understand this.

Socialists believe that an economy guided by highly intelligent, fair-minded, rationally-thinking central planners will be more efficient and equitable than the unplanned spontaneous order of the market, which appears chaotic, short-sighted, and cruel to them. I'd say that few if any socialists are so foolish as to think that trial lawyers and government workers create wealth.

Then logically, either they believe that it is impossible to create wealth, or that wealth should not be created. Because they want to make all sectors regulated arms of the government.

All I'm saying is that socialism can be defeated by any number of elementary logical proofs, and anyone who is not convinced by these is unintelligent or willfully ignorant.
