IF YOU LIKE RUDY -- YOU WEREN'T LISTENING!!

Based on many comments I have recently read after Rudy Guiliani announced formation of an Exploratory Committee, it is obvious that there are many marginally republican voters who really don't care about conservative principles or about the health and life of the GOP. Many, sadly, have a win at all costs attitude, and that is exactly why we now are the minority party in both houses of Congress. We do not have to elect, and should not elect, a Rudy RINO Republican.

It's not just that Rudy Guiliani is not a conservative, he's not even close. Bush is twice is conservative, and he's a moderate by any objective analysis.

Rudsy is another BIG GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE MONEY, SOCIAL LIBERAL. Look at the brief record:

1. He's pro gay rights and has marched in the gay pride parade in NYC on many occasions.

2. He's not jsut pro-abortion, he's pro-partial birth abortion.

3. He's pro-embryonic stem cell research.

4. He opposes immigration and border control.

5. He would sacrifice the human rights of Christians in China and other oppressive regimes to satisfy the corportate crowd.

6. He's party of the high-ball, country clubbin, lobbyist crowd that has corrupted both parties.

7. He not only had a very public affair -- he shcked up with the whore in Gracey Mansion for pete's sake and was unapologetic.

If you want to know why the voters aren't voting GOP, it's because we let folks like Rudy take the party for a ride we don't want and don't really support.

And this is not just about one or two issues that conservatives differ with Rudy on. These are significant, weighty, life-altering issues that really matter!!!

Can me a disgruntled conservative, but I have had my fill of Arnold, the Bushes, Specter, Chafee, and the whole northeast liberal RINO crowd.

I have been a substantial donor to the party and have set up numerous campaigns and performed legal work for many GOP candidates. But if the party allows itself to be seduced by the likes of Rudy Guilliani or others of his ilk, that's a trip I won't be taking. I won't vote for Hillary, but I will stay home. At that point, there's really no difference in what the parties are offering.

So I take it then that you would prefer Hillary Clinton over Rudy then. Am I wrong?

Good job. I posted that on the Giuliani thread about his exploratory committee, which is (or was) under breaking news. Any Giuliani thread should get that post!

Not only are you wrong, you're silly.

Why am I silly? Look at what happened in 1992 with Ross Perot. We got Billy Boy. Now some evidently want Hillary. What's the difference?

Sure, let's nominate an ultra conservative, so Hillary can beat him by 60/30 margin. Brilliant idea

The recently unemployed Rick Santorum and Katherine Harris say "hi!"

Sonny Perdue would be a good choice, as would SC's Mark Sanford.

If the race boils down to Rudy vs Hillary, whom would you vote for ? Or are you staying home ?

For me, I say politics is about choosing the lesser of 2 evils. And I say the lesser would be Rudy.

Maybe I'm not your "preferred" type of Republican -- i.e., one who does not think for herself -- but in fact I contribute money to the GOP, I made numerous phone calls getting out the vote for GWB in his last election, and I voted a straight Republican ticket in our last election here (AFTER looking at the candidates and making sure I liked them). I also try to be a good Free Republic citizen and do not indulge in name-calling or ad hominem attacks. If you have the audacity to think I "don't belong here" just because I disagree with you about Rudy, go yell to the Mods about it.

I'm trying to get it on each one. I ping you as a courtesy since it's your find.

You're silly because you're presenting a false choice between two liberals. Conservatives don't have to, and won't, elect a liberal, no matter how silly you, or others, choose to be.

Donating money doesn't give you an O.K. to turn the party into "democrat lite"!
The issues that Rudy is not conservative on seem to be issues you are not concened about, but, you cannot pick and choose.
This is the beginning of a battle for the future of the GOP, don't expect it to be pleasant, or polite.

And what is Rudy's great strength? He knows EXACTLY what to do with terrorists.

The media created myth that Giuliani is strong on defense consists only of lying words, and is belied by the fact that when the planes struck the towers on 9-11, Rudy had been fighting for years to make NYC an open sanctuary for exactly the kind of illegal aliens who were piloting the aircraft.

There isn't a dime's worth of difference between him and the Clintons on anything, including the defense of our sovereign territory.

I'm not silly. I'm just looking at the available candidates. Who do you like? McCain? Giuliani? or Romney?

They are the only realistic candidates at this point in time.

Lying Liberals all. None of the above. EVER.

They are the only realistic candidates at this point in time.

Only to those with an Oprah political mentality.

Process of elimination. If you sit out the election with Rudy at the top of the ticket you are effectively voting for Hillary. How will you feel when Hillary confiscates your guns, socializes medical care, cuts our defense, ramps up welfare, and puts in place all of her socialist schemes? What will you say then? If you don't vote then you have no reason to complain when Hillary remakes America in her socialist image.

Your false choices don't interest me at all.

The GOP will pick a proven conservative, or it will become Democrat Party Lite and go the way of the Whigs.

The Republicans will indeed go the way of the Whigs so long as a litmus test is given to the possible candidates. That's what the Dummycrats do. Why do we want to emulate their craziness?
