Based on many comments I have recently read after Rudy Guiliani announced formation of an Exploratory Committee, it is obvious that there are many marginally republican voters who really don't care about conservative principles or about the health and life of the GOP. Many, sadly, have a win at all costs attitude, and that is exactly why we now are the minority party in both houses of Congress. We do not have to elect, and should not elect, a Rudy RINO Republican.
It's not just that Rudy Guiliani is not a conservative, he's not even close. Bush is twice is conservative, and he's a moderate by any objective analysis.
Rudsy is another BIG GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE MONEY, SOCIAL LIBERAL. Look at the brief record:
1. He's pro gay rights and has marched in the gay pride parade in NYC on many occasions.
2. He's not jsut pro-abortion, he's pro-partial birth abortion.
3. He's pro-embryonic stem cell research.
4. He opposes immigration and border control.
5. He would sacrifice the human rights of Christians in China and other oppressive regimes to satisfy the corportate crowd.
6. He's party of the high-ball, country clubbin, lobbyist crowd that has corrupted both parties.
7. He not only had a very public affair -- he shcked up with the whore in Gracey Mansion for pete's sake and was unapologetic.
If you want to know why the voters aren't voting GOP, it's because we let folks like Rudy take the party for a ride we don't want and don't really support.
And this is not just about one or two issues that conservatives differ with Rudy on. These are significant, weighty, life-altering issues that really matter!!!
Can me a disgruntled conservative, but I have had my fill of Arnold, the Bushes, Specter, Chafee, and the whole northeast liberal RINO crowd.
I have been a substantial donor to the party and have set up numerous campaigns and performed legal work for many GOP candidates. But if the party allows itself to be seduced by the likes of Rudy Guilliani or others of his ilk, that's a trip I won't be taking. I won't vote for Hillary, but I will stay home. At that point, there's really no difference in what the parties are offering.
If there's any way I could help you get rid of your senator Feinswine and the upcoming SHREIKER of the House, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.
Then I guess you need to get used to saying "President Hillary Clinton." I don't understand this driving need to cut our noses off to spite our faces. It makes no sense at all to me. Giuliani constently polls the highest in all Republican polls. Why do we take our strongest candidate and throw him under the bus to satisfy a ridiculous litmus test? That's what the Dems do. When did we start using their playbook?
hell.....I'd even keep Feinstein if I could get rid of Boxer.....she is the worse of the three for sure......even worse then Pelosi, if you can believe that.....
I had to laugh at that....I agree that you need the Christian vote....but who were the keynote speakers at the last Republican convention.....Arnold, Guiliani and McCain.....haha.....all RINO's......and Bush and Rove set that up......
Well, where's John Wayne when you need him?
To you, conservatism is a "ridiculous litmus test." Why are you even here?
Giuliani lands very near Hillary Clinton on the political spectrum, perhaps to her left, and his nomination would spell the end of the Republican Party.
This place is getting nuts. Giuliani was fighting like hell to keep NYC open for illegals when 9-11 came down around his head. No dissembling he has done since will ever change that fact.
Don't leave out Zell.....I'd still like to see and Lardball face off at 10 paces. Prissy Matthews standing in his own puddle would be priceless.
I still maintain that Rudy is the ideal VICE-presidential candidate. To win this next election, we need a reasonably conservative PRESIDENTIAL candidate, to get the base votes, and a less-conservative VICE-presidential candidate (i.e., Rudy) to play clean-up amongst the middle-of-the-road crowd (and also any Dems who can't stand Hillary). Therefore, I do hope to see Rudy run for President, since the VP candidate for the eventual Presidential candidate is almost always chosen from the pack who showed interest in the job by running for President.
One might argue that it is a mistake to have Rudy just a heartbeat away from the presidency, but consider this: In our present climate (especially now that the Dems are in position to give GWB grief about the war and possibly cause us to pull out prematurely), it is very possible that if we were to lose the POTUS, it would be in a terrorist attack. And what is Rudy's great strength? He knows EXACTLY what to do with terrorists. Rudy has many flaws, which have been examined in detail by other posters, but I have great faith in his approach toward the War on Terror. He should definitely be our next VP candidate.
NO, NO, NO! Republicans must stand for the Constitution, if you don't, you are NOT a Republican. If you don't like it here, go start your own party.
Folks, hold on tight!
Ronald Reagan was a New Deal Democrat, Union President and FDR big government cheerleader!
Let the guy speak first.
Or are you folks trying to attack Rudy cause your pushing George Allen for President? LOL
Was Reagan anti-gun, pro abortion, pro gay marriage?
His actions have spoken. Not interested.
Macacacacacaca?
Bwahahahahahahahaha!
Rudy is also pro-affirmative action.
Thanks---glad you both liked the analysis.
It's interesting how many people waited until Rudy actually took out his papers. He has been campaigning here on FreeRepublic for months through his New York employees and shills.
Rudy sent up so many trial ballons before he actually stuck his toe in the water, that Al Gore had him under investigation for air pollution.
You realize that each time we point out where Rudy really stands on the issues, his followers get silent? They HATE it when the truth leaks out! LOL!
If you had read my reply to your earler statement of "let the guy speak first" You would see thqat he has spoken loud and clear. That's #16, this thread.
The silence is DEAFENING!
