To adopt Section 34a of Article II of the Constitution of the State of Ohio. Except as provided in this section, every employer shall pay their employees a wage rate of not less than six dollars and eighty-five cents per hour beginning January 1, 2007. On the thirtieth day of each September, beginning in 2007, this state minimum wage rate shall be increased effective the first day of the following January by the rate of inflation for the twelve month period prior to that September according to the consumer price index or its successor index for all urban wage earners and clerical workers for all items as calculated by the federal government rounded to the nearest five cents.
Remember its for the children.
BTW Ohio is looking for new business to come here do we have any takers.
At 7% for 100 years the wage would be $6,178.14/hr
You mean I will need to take a pay cut????
No way!
Time to sell the old homestead here it the Buckeye state and head for less liberal grounds.
All that will be left will be the dependent class with no one to feed them.
Hop over the border to ole Pa-Bwahahahahaha!
Why not make it $25/hr or $50/hr?
Ohio...home of the $10 dollar cheeseburger...
*bangs head*
Better not do that. Conservatives actually won the election in Ohio and across the country, or did you miss that from earlier threads? Here in Colorado they also raised the minimum wage adjusted to inflation. Except the definition of "rate of inflation" for Colorado is the rate of inflation for Denver. So if Denver's inflation is 7% the whole state's minimum wage has to go up 7%.
Many people are doing just that.
We got higher taxes from Taft and it will only get worse from now on. Companies are leaving this state in droves.
Remember this is the state that sends Kucinich to the US COngress year after year. And he wants to establish a US Department of Peace. Get ready to see that happen - evidently pelosi and reid do not find him threatening (no one would, he's just nuts) so they will probably let him have his way. WHo knows, maybe they think it is a good idea.
God save all of us.
Does anybody actually make minimum wage? Will this apply to part-time workers? Most of the service jobs around here pay $8/hr, and this is a poor area.
Ohio is about to become Detroit on a grand scale. I predict tons of restraunts closing and the cost of lunch to go to $7-8 for junk fast food.
LMAO...too true...
see post #2
Whoa!
Most blue-collar union pay rates are tied to the minimum wage. So if the MW goes up, so do union pay scales.
