The headline is somewhat misleading. The claims made by the person in the article says that Wal-Mart will donate 5% of online sales made throught the gay group's website. A vast difference from the impression given by the headline.
I don't think it is a hoax, just misleading. The article gives a clue, and that is only if you make purchases through the gay website from Wal-mart do they get 5%. So it does not apply to all on-line purchases like implied in most of their statements.
This is just more "hate Walmart" crap from the same folks who support unions...
Balls-Mart?
Is this just a referral program? They get 5% of the sales directed from their site??
THIS IS ONLY AN "AFFILIATE" PROGRAM.
This is so embarrassing. I can't believe the AFA is getting all bent out of shape over an affiliate program. Gays will get more money because of the AFA now and this will not effect Walmart until social conservative set up their own shops.
It's the usual "hate Walmart" people. Where can I sign saying I WILL SHOP AT WALMART? Because I will shop at Walmart and Sam's and I hate the friggin lyin' Unions.
I'm just recycling this from an earlier post I made:
This is just a standard click-through sales strategy that's also done by Amazon and other online retailers. The web site puts up a "buy this book" (or whatever) ad, and whenever people click from there and buy it, the originating site gets a percentage of the sale. In common terms, the site was the sales lead, so it gets its commission.
It's not like Wal-Mart specifically inked a special deal with just this group as people want you to think. Anyone can just go online and register for this affiliate program. It's a good way to make money if you have a site with lots of traffic.
If this is true, it sounds like the Eisner Disneyites have all gone to work at Walmart.
The WalMart affiliate program offers 5-12% commission on ANY website that joins their program. The AFA is VERY MISLEADING...WalMart will pay any website a commission, I doubt the upper levels of WalMart management are even aware of the groups that join the affiliate program.

Walmart affiliate program. So like the AFA could get the same deal if they signed up.
Yeah we should boycott Google next because they allow Adsense on gay webpages!!
Don't forget the boycott Amazon, their referral program is open to all as well - including GAYS AND TERRORISTS!!! ROFL!!!
Are you sure this is real and not part of some smear campaign from lefties like Kennedy, who HATE Wal-Mart and know a lot of frugal conservatives shop there?
And the Lame-stream media, world of finance, corporate America and last but not least Hollyweird.
"...and in addition, some key decision makers are probably in the closet and subject to blackmail."
HA!!
Methinks it 'tis *us* who're [being] blackmailed.
"That combination will lead to decisions that are not in the company's interest."
Yea.
...never mind the Republic. ;^)
Smoking in bed is a leading cause of fires.
Can FreeRepublic become an affiliate? Just imagine the posts at DU: "Boycott Wal-Mart even more. Crazy FreeRepublic gets 5% of all sales at Wal-Mart"
It is a hoax, these people are liars, as you read farther down, you will see the 5% comes only from sales at the homosexual web site it self.
Hmmm there is a clause on there about not allowing sites that require a username and password, but I think that's to access the site not necessarily about posting. Other then that I didn't see any reason why not :).
Stick a banner with the pajama patrol badges on the front page.
A quick Google search should convince you that this is for real. How about this story?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Wal-Mart, the worlds largest retailer, has taken another step away from its family oriented roots by entering a partnership with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, a move the chambers president said Wal-Mart initiated.
As part of the deal, Wal-Mart will pay the chamber $25,000 a year for sponsorship of events and initiatives and has agreed to conduct workshops for homosexual business owners on how to break into the Wal-Mart supplier ranks, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times Aug. 25.
Randy Sharp, a spokesman for the American Family Association, told the Morning News of northwest Arkansas that he has stopped shopping at Wal-Mart because it has moved away from its pro-family stance.
