Governor Romney has made significant inroads with party activists. The political pundits have been taking note and praising Romney over the last few months. Also, trends in the GOP Bloggers Poll results over the last several months have confirmed Romney's Rise.
March: Romney had a net positive rating of +9.5%--lower only than Allen and Giuliani
July: Romney inched up to a +17.9% net positive rating--lower that Allen, Gingrich, and Giuliani
August: Romney's net positve rating was +32.2% g at has been the "First choice" of 13% of voters--Both below only Gingrich and Giuliani
September: Romney had a +41.1% net positive rating and was the "First choice" of 18.2% of voters.
October: Romney has jumped up to a +53.4% net positive rating and has been the "First choice" of 19.3% of voters. That high net positive rating is not just the highest Romney's had . . . it's the highest ANYBODY'S had through all of these polls. That's a GREAT sign that he's viewed more positively than anyone else in the field. He still trails Rudy and Newt in the "First Choice" category and is losing to Rudy in head to head pairing.
I think that the most consistant thing Romney has going for him in the last few months of this poll is that he has the FEWEST negative votes against him (meaning he's viewed as the least "unacceptable" candidate by poll participants). That leaves him a lot of "upside".

I'm leaning Romney. I don't trust any of the other losers.
I'm glad to know he is in the bull pen. This is too early to get very involved in this stuff, but after the recent months with Allen, it is comforting to have Romney in the running.
I like Romney. He's a successful businesman and he appears to be a good leader. He holds dear all the same values that the God-fearing Republicans hold dear -- pro-life, pro-traditional marriage and he seems squeaky clean.

Yes. This week. Romney's positions on traditional values have changed 180 degrees before. Who's to say they won't do so again?

Look, if you want to run for office is Massachusetts you can forget doing so as a real conservative and being the politician that he is who's to say where he really stands on issues. To not vote for him because of his religion is ignorant and bigoted. To not vote for him because of his position on fiscal and social issues is another matter.
I don't see him winning in the South but he could make a showing in the national election.
Amazing how Romney is bashed constantly on this forum for moving further right on abortion but Rice remains solidly pro-abortion but the affirmation-action wing of the GOP wants to walk over broken glass to nominate her because she's a black female. IMO, Romney's problem isn't his religion, it's his anglo-saxon white male status.
There are also nuts on this board who find it acceptable to vote for 90% liberal wackos like Joe Lieberman & Mark Warner, yet somehow have determined 90% conservative politicians like Lindsey Graham and Sonny Perdue are the enemy. IMO, these "conservatives" should just join the RAT party and get it over with. They've alraedy memorized all the RAT talking points about Perdue and so on.
