They did? When were the Republican Party politicians staunchly, more staunchly than now, more conservative? Best case for that would be the Gingrich revolution in '96. They were all hard-core conservatives? Ha.

As I said before it is more like the base deserts the Pubbies every couple of election cycles for not being conservative enough. ('02) What message does that send? "The people want us to be more liberal!" The dems get in and move the whole country to the left while mucking up the law and the courts.

We have a SC deciding that the U.S. recognizes things in treaties that the treaty itself flatly contradicts in no uncertain terms. How much more of that do you think this country can take and not be way too far out to ever come back to being a constitutional republic? Quite frankly I was saying that it could only be restored by taking it to the streets about ten years ago. But I'm not a quitter. As long as there's a semblance of sanity in this country I will work with the system as it is supposed to work.

Idealism is for children and liberals.
