A friend of mine recently was surprised when I told him that I am not voting Republican this fall. "You are one of the most conservative people I know," he said.
"Exactly," I said, "and that is precisely why I am not voting Republican." For me, illegal immigration has been the final straw. And the GOP's recent decision to pull funding from Randy Graf's campaign shows the writing on the wall: CONSERVATIVES, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN THE GOP. Of course, the GOP will take conservatives' votes and money, but if a real conservative runs for office, he almost certainly will be shunned.
The GOP historically has been quite liberal. And now, those at the helm are steering it towards its liberal roots. While President Bush and Senator McCain are seeing who can run farther to the left of Ted Kennedy on the issue of immigration, our country is under invasion. Already 20 million illegals have invaded our country, and our president (other than lip service) has done nothing about it. In fact, he exudes a long track record of encouraging the illegal invasion of our country.
In the 1950s, when our country was under invasion, President Eisenhower (via "Operation Wetback") responded with troops, and deported over 1 million illegals in less than a year. Yet President Bush says he is unable. Rather, he is unwilling. If Bush had engaged in this pandering to illegals in the 1950s, he would have been impeached and tried for treason.
In fact, the treason lobby seems to have overtaken the GOP. By 1950s standards, President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and Senators McCain, Specter, Brownback, DeWine, and Graham are all guilty of treason. Behind the scenes, they have supported the unconstitutional NAFTA Superhighway, and at every turn have undermined American sovereignty. They have betrayed the Constitution and hard-working Americans so that they can make a fast buck from big business and attempt (unsuccessfully) to court illegal aliens for future political support.
And the GOP rewards such treason. Although Senator DeWine has been ranked by Human Events as one of the ten worst border-security politicians in the country, the GOP still funds him. And in the process, they ceased to fund Randy Graf, a true patriot who actually wants to defend America from this invasion. They take money from the conservative and give it to the liberal. This is the modus operandi of the GOP.
If I am ever able to vote for a true conservative in the GOP (e.g. John Duncan, Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, or Pat Buchanan) then I shall. Otherwise, I am voting Constitution Party (the real conservative party) or not voting at all.
*I'm* not laughing.
Practical Example: I don't like the choices for Gov. in CA and I voted for McClintock, not Arnold last time--but this time, UNGH. Holding nose--but we must hold Arnie in check. NO POTUS for him! Meanwhile, I'm SURE not throwing a tantrum or throwing up my hands.
We've all got work to do to make next time's choices better--and make sure there IS a next time, and a next.
What I dislike most about FR: make even a sniffle of displeasure with the Republican party or even think about voting for a third party and you get humped as if you had walked into a pack of dogs in heat. I didn't have to read this article to realize a)the GOP is wrong on immigration reform and b)I can see little difference between it and the Rats on immigration reform. Yes, there are a number of GOP congressmen who understand the issue and vote accordingly, however, at least half of the party is split on the issue to my eyes. I find it quite odd, too, in light of numerous polls showing the vast majority of Americans do not support a soft stance on illegal immigration. This is the perfect issue to slam the Rats on and would do wonders in November yet some either fail to realize it or want to reward big business/special interests. I don't play that game.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I pledge allegiance to the United States of America, not to the Republican party. I'll vote accordingly. If I "waste my vote" then it's on me.
Look at the logline for the cover story:
"Bigger pay raise in peril Plans to line troops pockets with an extra half-percent on top of the Pentagons proposed 2.2 percent Jan. 1 pay raise are all but dead."
Not what the cover implies--do you have access to the article? If so, post it so we can read the facts, not just the sizzle used to sell the magazine. Just the above quoted portion disputes your silly assertion about Bush.
I agree with one thing in your post. The open-borders crowd (including Bush) are "betraying the Constitution". I give a simple citation from that Constitution:
Article IV, Section 4:
" The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."
Even the pro-illegals admit the alien tsunami is an invasion. Aside from the social, economic, and cultural disasters -- it's a clear and present danger to our national security in this era of international terrorism.
If some terrorists stroll across our borders and commit mass murder of Americans the Executive and Legislative branches will be guilty of criminal neglegence.
Like I told you before, I have grown tired of responding to "teach the GOP a lesson, stay home, or vote third party" posters.
Or you could buck up and control your own destiny. Yet Dick Cheney and Halliburton have removed all of your options. I smell ozone.
I swear I can hear the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" after that. Damn, I have to stop the screen is getting blurry.
Tiger007 went bye bye.
Hey, this is Jim's forum. If you want to bleat about the advantage of being liberal.....SMN
"The White House parries the charge by pointing to pay raises for the troops of more than 15 percent under Bush, privatizing of troops' housing, and large increases in defense spending -- all resulting in record retention rates in the military. Bush aides also counter that the president proposed the largest-ever increase in discretionary spending for the Veterans Administration in his 2004 budget."--Washington Post June 17, 2003
"Defense Department officials, in budget briefings this month, said the proposed raise is based on the growth in private-sector wages as measured by the Labor Department's Employment Cost Index. Because of the lengthy federal budget process, there is usually a 15-month lag between the labor-market snapshot taken by the index and the effective date of the pay raise. Pentagon officials also pointed out that the military has received substantial raises in recent years. Tina W. Jonas , the defense comptroller, estimated the increase in military pay to be 29 percent since 2001."--Washington Post, February 21, 2006
The "lowest pay raise" is a "fact" that you have chosen to take out of context into order to smear the president.
Bush has increased military pay 29 PERCENT in six years. A paltry increase doesn't negate the FACT that he has increased military pay by nearly 1/3 in SIX YEARS--would you prefer he have given much smaller increases since 2001, all of which could be considered "higher" without adding up to 29%?
Now please, tell me again how he doesn't support the military.
I do agree we need to vote for conservative Republicans.
We need more people like GA Gov Sonny Perdue. I wonder if has considered running for president.
Amen to that. I'm irritated but not irritated enough to step into a third party. I'd say that I hate the Dems more than I feel betrayed by the Rep.
I KNOW I can count on YOUR vote, so my day's work is done, < grin > gotta get up early for church. 'Night, Nightowl!
P.S. My kitty wasn't laughing either! ;^)
I wish I was in the land of cotton,
old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
In Dixie land where I was born in, early on a frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
Chorus:
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie.
Old Missus marry Will de Weaber, Will-yum was a gay deceaber,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
But when he put his arm around her,
smiled as fierce as a forty pounder.
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land. (Chorus)
Dars buckwheat cakes an' ingen batter, makes you fat or a little fatter,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
Den hoe it down and scratch your grabble to Dixie's land
I'm bound to travel,
Look away, look away, look away Dixie land. (Chorus)
Have a blessed Sunday.
Principles mean nothing in politics if you have no influence to implement them. If the Dems win conservatives have NO influence.
ZOT?
Hey, the writer of this rant is "some conservative" ---
