I discovered this website a couple of years ago... probably from someone here at FR. Saw the page in my favorites folder and decided to check it out again. Found this commentary. Don't agree with all of it, but he makes some interesting points.

The Republicans have been an embarrassment since Bush took office on doing anything to control spending, but becoming a Democrat to fight that is like sticking a knife in your eye because it itches.

But, the final straw came in 2002, when the LP party hacks sabotaged the congressional career of Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.), the best friend they ever had in Congress

I stopped reading there. Bob Barr, as anyone who's read his comments since he lost his congressional seat, is a wackjob.

But, being a Republican these days means always being disappointed.

So are Cubs fans. That doesn't mean they suddenly say they are Cardinals fans.

Newt Gingrich nationalized the congressional elections by appealing to Americans' distaste for Bill Clinton's fiscal and social liberalism and swung fifty-four seats from the jackasses' to the elephants' camp.

No he didn’t. He appealed to Americans’ love for a positive message and a plan.

Certainly, I can imagine leaving the Republican Party. It's far from perfect.

However, in their current configuration, I simply cannot conceive of myself turning to the Democrats.

"heir one major policy victory -- Welfare reform -- became Bill Clinton's public relations victory, because Gingrich and company bitterly obsessed over whether the Clinton administration would get the credit."

Who cares about the credit?
Welfare Reform succeeded brilliantly and is proof that conservative reforms work.

No mention btw is mentioned of Bush's efforts on behalf of Social Security reform, which, if implemented, would be as big a benefit to the country as Welfare Reform.

"The wholesale expropriation -- and then, betrayal -- of Ronald Reagan's legacy by the Bush administration is appalling. Watching Bush squander the good faith America's conservative electorate placed in him has become too disheartening to take any longer."

Sounds like Michael Weiner to me. No thanks.

It ain't what happened with the Contract since a lot of it was passed some declared unconstitutional after passing.

It is what has happened since then with a GOP president
Uncontrolled spending
No secure borders
Letting the democrats roll them time and time again ( 911 commission--Sandy Berger--Forged documents )

The Republicans are sluts. Sure, when you marry yourself to them, they seem all for family values, balancing the checkbook, keeping a clean house and always staying faithful to you. But, when you're out at work, they're spending you into the poorhouse, letting the kids wreck your den and they sleep around behind your back. While you're out working your ass off to make ends meet, they're squandering your savings, and doing the milkman, the cable guy, the mailman, and even the exterminator. Your den is a wreck, and your backyard a shambles because even though you built a fence around it, your "faithful" Republican spouse left the gate open, and now there's a passel of drunken illegal aliens using your bar-b-que grill and swimming in your pool, without even bothering to shower first. For your troubles, you end up bankrupt and scratching a strange new itch that's suddenly infested your groin area.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are whores. There is no depth to which they can sink that has not been plumbed. They'll sleep with anyone, anytime, anywhere. There is no limit to their depravity. They're as loyal as eels.

But, you see, that's the beauty of it: Because the Democrats make no pretense of actually standing for anything honest, decent or honorable, you can protect yourself accordingly; It's hard to get the clap when you always wear a political body condom.

I really agree. Not a little. Not mostly but completely and regretfully.

This bullsh!t is put out there to make Conservatives stay home and lose hope. OUR NATION IS AT WAR, AND ANYTHING THAT ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE THE REPUBLICANS FROM POWER IS AN ATTACK ON OUR NATION. We cannot allow liberals to use the old "divide and conquer" playbook! We must stay on offense and kill the enemy. dims would destroy our Nation and the world with their ignorant, selfish ideology.

His party wasn't conservative enough for him, so he became a liberal.

I don't follow this at all.
