MIKE MALLOY FIRED BY AIR AMERICA RADIO
There will be no Mike Malloy program on Air America Radio as we have been terminated as of 8/30/06.
We are as shocked as you are, especially since as recently as last Tuesday we were told we had the go-ahead to announce our return to NY airwaves and that our contract was "on the way."
We are told it's a financial decision.
More details to follow as we hear them ourselves. Members of the press can contact malloyproducer@aol.com to schedule interviews.
Re my post #2. It sounds like he supports his termination.
BTW, this is not a duplicate thread as no one posted his blog's announcement here!
FYI.
I am shocked he got fired, I didn't think the network would last long enough to fire anyone.
But I am surprised they did not have some big-name replacement for him. Malloy had his fan base. I can't understand what the board at Air America was thinking when they fired him so quickly, without a permanent replacement. Did they jsut dislike him THAT much??
And, yes, I am surprised that network is still on the air!
We are sending you this email to let yo know that we have outsourced many of our day-to-day operations because it saves us money. Which is something we have been losing a lot of lately.
All future notices regarding your employement will be detailed shortly by the company we hired to handle employee relations,
Thank you,
AIR AMERICA

A FEW MINUTES LATER...

titles of posts on Malloy message board:
>>We need names of those 'men in suits'
uh oh!
>>I pledge $50 to go toward Mike's A.A. salary
Alcoholics Anonymous? Oh, a pledge drive! Just like NPR/PBS
>>Contact KLSD 1360 to get Mike on
The S.D. AAR affiliate. Yes, those are the calls.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore, waiting to take you away. Climb in the back with your head in the clouds and you're gone.
>>calls
oops, I mean call letters (we just say "calls" on radio
messageboards!)
The local AAR station this morning was putting out a petition they are going to send up to NY network suits to show their displeasure. The nutjobs locally are saying it is "Censorship" and all because of some negative things Malloy said about Jooozz - amazing ain't it - ha ha. Malloy was a maggot of the worst kind and I about puked this morning with Mike Newcomb wishing him God Bless - Malloy does not believe in God and makes every listener recognize that - GOOD RIDANCE and if Dr. Newcomb thinks he is going to take on the suits in NY he better watch his back and his franchise. Mike Newcomb Show
MSNBC could pick him up--offers about the same as any other except perhaps Glenn Beck.
re your post #9 - LOL...

Believe it or not I actually met the guy. Off air he and his wife are very nice (probably typical of pros that their "off-air" and "on-air" personas are distinct).
Malloy has made a career of being "too hot to handle", and his 2 year stint at AAR is a long one for him. He has a large internet following and apparently is already making other deals... the AAR firing will probably be one of his big promotional points.
Look: Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Malloy, Springer... it's ALL SHOWBIZ. They are all paid to ENTERTAIN, not to inform or enlighten.
Case in point: Bill Maher and Ann Coulter are best friends. Tell me that al this on-air bloviating is for real...
Thanks; I missed it.
