Fair Is Fair; Don’t Cloud the Immigration Issue
From Sea to Shining Sea ^ | 8/26/06 | Purple Mountains

As all of you know from previous articles here, I want illegal immigration stopped. I want a fence built, I want a ten-fold increase in the Border Patrol, I want employers deliberately hiring illegals put in jail – and then I want put in place a fair program of earned citizenship – fair to the illegals here and fair to those who entered by playing by the rules.

However, to be completely fair about this issue, and in response to Pat Buchanan’s recent book, “State of Emergency” (I think Pat Buchanan gives conservatism a bad name), I present the following

I like my amnesty plan!
Please call them INVADERS and don't compare them to people who are legal aliens!
IF you aid and abet CRIMINALS, you are a criminal!

President Bush has been great on most things except for our border.
He has been great on the war on terrorists.
But on the border he is a gross failure.
He acted fast and correct on the 3,000+ people murdered at the world trade center.
He ignores the many rapes, murders and robberies which might be larger than the murders and money loss at the world trade center.
More Americans are abducted on the border of Mexico than in Iraq!

Start building the fence.
It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.

I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

My plan would never fly:

Shoot them with hollow-point bullets as they try to cross, then dump the bodies back across the border.

Do that enough and Mexico would finally get the message.

It would be messy, I know, but until you show someone (anyone) that you mean business, they will forever continue to walk all over you.

Told you it wouldn't fly...........

I am heartened by the local and state attention to these matters. I do not think one-size-fits all federal policies will work without cooperation at all levels.

Sorry Linda, but your plan stinks. You would give amnesty and a path to citizenship to those who broke the law. In the interim those who have been waiting in line overseas 10 to 30 years to LEGALLY immigrate here have to continue waiting overseas in hell holes, while your lawbreakers get to work and wait here in the lap of luxury. Furthermore, your millions of illegal invaders would gain a place in line, and all future LEGAL immigrants would have to wait forever behind them for citizenship. No, your plan is not only not fair, it's downright evil.

Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the LORD detests them both. Proverbs 17:15

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber![1] John 10:1

Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." Matt. 22:21

If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; Exodus 22:2:

What we get in return for massive illegal immigration:

10,000 MS-13 members with machetes

Increased health care costs.

Overcrowded prisons

An underground economy

Increased crime

Identity Theft

Higher taxes

More police and schools

Increasing rate of unemployment of Americans, and especially with blacks, youths, and those with high school educations or less. This damage will last for generations.

Lower standard of living for many Americans

Draining off of our social benefits

Gangs

Increased terrorism risks

Devaluation of our citizenship

Erosion of our national identity.

Lower tax revenues, since much of their work is off the books.

Unlicensed, uninsured, untaught and often drunk drivers causing havoc on our roads

Smuggling

Increased drug flow

Human slavery and trafficking

Legal immigration for relatives of citizens taking a back burner

Once nice neighborhoods now turned into barrios

Lowering of our educational standards

Massive welfare fraud with fake ID’s

Dissolving of our borders

Loss of sovereignty

Blurring/loss of culture

Loss of language

Billions of dollars sent out of the country by illegals

Lower wages

The worst pollution in the Northern Hemisphere is right on our southern border, from mountains of refuse being left there by border crossers.

Closing hospitals that go bankrupt treating illegals. 84 California Hospitals have closed because of this. Illegals are breaking the back of our medical system. Many illegals come to the US just to get treated for their diseases....and it is free. This also causes increased healthcare costs for Americans.

Diseases we had all but eradicated....multi drug resistant (MDR) TB, Leprosy, Chagas Disease(1 in 3 die), malaria, plague, polio, dengue, head lice, hepatitis A, B, and C.

Each illegal with MDR-TB coughs and infects 10 to 30 people, who will not show symptoms immediately. Latent disease explodes later. MDR-TB has a 60% death rate. It can be treated over 24 months at a cost of $250,000 and toxic side effects.

Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, was so rare in America that in 40 years only 900 people were afflicted. Suddenly, in the past three years America has more than 7,000 cases of leprosy. Leprosy now is endemic to northeastern states because illegal aliens and other immigrants brought leprosy from India, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico.

Increased crime, gang activity, particularly MS-13, identity theft, drug flow. smuggling, humand trafficking and slavery. Overcrowing of prisons....30% of federal inmates are illegals.

Higher taxes to cover costs of schools, police and law enforcement and maintenace of higher prison populations.

Refusal to adapt to the English language and forcing some school districts to think of hiring Mexicans from Mexico to teach the children of illegals in American schools

Increasing rate of unemployment of Americans who are displaced by illegals.

Depression of wages and a lower standard of living for many Americans hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees

Draining off of our social benefits....36 to 42 percent of illegal aliens are on welfare.

Higher housing, food and energy costs.

Illegals are living 20-50 people in a single home times an unfathomable number of homes in neighborhoods across America. They are breaking in unoccupied residences and living in boathouses.

Numerous neighborhoods have been reduced in value because of overcrowing by illegals.

Increased terrorism risks

Devaluation of our citizenship

Erosion of our national identity.

Lower tax revenues, since much of their work is off the books. Much of the economy is underground. Illegals send billions of untaxed dollars back home each year....It is Mexico's 3rd largest source of income.

Contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland.

Substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children.

The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the average Mexican illegal alien costs U.S. taxpayers a whopping $55,000 each. Some bargain, eh?

To name just a few. Let me know if you can think of any more to add to the list.

From most of the replies, a lot of people don't understand how a democracy works. They also have no comprehension of the impossibility of deporting 10-11 million people.

Well I agree with you on that. I mean standing back and looking at this some compromise could be made here. I keep say and trying to remind people that we are not a super majority here. It is way too early to tell but Republican control of the house is not a given come Novemeber.

I pray we are in control but who knows. I suspect Bush is quite serious about this immigration reform stuff. I am getting a feeling it is very important to him. He will re submit this again. In fact the genie is out of the bottle so to say. Right now the House Republicans have a advantage. They are in a position to take the worse things out of the Senate bill. If the House changes hands they will be at at a severe disadvantage.

Somewhere along the line and I don't know when legitimate compromise became a dirty word. Again, I don't know if what I am witnessing is just some misguided belief that politcal situation will stay the same or some overconfidence that certains groups hands will be strenghtened in the coming elections. IF people have that view , to be honest I am not sure where it is coming from

From most of the replies, a lot of people don't understand how a democracy works.

For your information, the United States is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. That means that we respect the rule of law, not the tryanny of the majority.

They also have no comprehension of the impossibility of deporting 10-11 million people.

Nobody is talking about deporting 10-11 million people. We are talking about creating the environment in which they voluntarily go home. Take away their jobs, their drivers licenses, their free medical care, free schooling for their kids, and otherwise make their lives here miserable and they'll "self-deport."

Time for a compromise.

I notice that illegal-lovers define "compromise" as "amnesty + guest workers + more immigrants."

This over the top rethoric is getting us no where.

Actually, it has gotten us a lot. It has stopped the Global Elites' plan to turn America into another Third World cesspool in its tracks -- at least for the time being. The anti-illegal alien movement is the biggest and most successful grassroots movement since Civil Rights 40 years ago.

Real Border security and to some plan to deal fairly with the people here and their families(many of whom are Americans)

The fair thing to do is encourage them all to go home now. Their family members who are American citizens can go with them or stay here.

A tiny fraction of the complexity of a trip to the moon. Much less complexity than liberating Kuwait. Less complex than cleaning up after hurricanes Hugo, Andrew, or Katrina. On the scale of jobs our government does - not hard at all.

The only problem with your plan is that the word will not spread fast enough. You need to shoot nine out of ten and let the one go back and help spread the word. The word being that we are not going to take it any more.

I totally agree with you.

We CAN send 11 million people across the border.

After all, Mexico did.

The radio guy who does the "est of the Story", Paul Harvey, did a segment on Buchanan's book.
Wow!

I don't consider Mr. Harvey a leader, but he certainly is a bellwether as to the American publics opinion.

I think the politicos will pay attention to him more than us FReepers!
