A LITTLE INCONVENIENCE?? I almost chocked on my extra-hot latte this morning when I started reading Leonard Pitts' (Miami Herald) column. Seemed that Leonard was coming over to the dark side by agreeing that a little inconvenience, when it comes to added airport security after the London arrests, was fine and that "getting killed is the biggest inconvenience of all." Leonard went on to praise the British for their handling of this situation and even suggested that it might be a good idea to adopt a more El Al form of airport security. For those not familiar, El Al is Israel's state airline and they do added screening at four of five U. S. airports in which they fly (And have sought permission to do the same at the fifth). El Al's added measures include interrogation of every passenger, hand searches of every carry on piece and armed air marshals on every flight. Leonard ponders as to whether Americans are up for that level of inconvenience and I would have to say that we aren't. However, it's important to understand that Israel has been at war for over half a century so they tend to view things is a much different light than do we. Of course Leonard didn't truly "get it"! He still blames Bush for not making us sacrifice enough at a time of war (I've still never understood what sacrificing needlessly does to help the war effort, but libs like to point to WWII as an example). What they fail to mention, of course, is that during WWII, sacrifice was essential to keep the war machine operating successfully. Otherwise there wouldn't have been enough fuel, rubber, metal etc.. Additionally, Leonard couldn't help himself and had to bring up how the administration "happily imposes and we meekly accept-all sorts of infringements on our civil liberties based on all sorts of spurious reasoning". (Once again showing that your typical leftist thinks that listening in on terrorists phone calls or tracking their banking records is more of an inconvenience than anyone should have to bear). Here's a news flash Leonard...THAT IS THE SACRIFICE OF WHICH YOU SPEAK!! I'd say sacrificing a little bit of privacy to track terrorists is a far cry more usefull than recycling my old truck tires. Leonard further blames the TSA for doing a poor job of airport security...while at the same time admitting that we, as Americans, would never put up with El Al style tactics. Even though Leonard still doesn't have a true grasp on the whole "country in the middle of WWIII" concept, I have to say, he's come the closest of any lib yet. Keep up the good work Leonard...you may really "get it" one day and truly come over to "The Dark Side"!!
I chocked my wheels, once.
I usually chock them twice, just to be sure.
Well, if you'd do it correctly the first time......
;)
Well, golly. Isn't it sweet of you to presume to speak for all of us. Liberalism tends to slip so easily into arrogance.
How about this, sport?
Have some airlines dump security altogether, and the remainder beef it up. After six months, let's talk about which is preferable.
Unless, of course, you appoint yourself travel god and force people to get on planes in which they don't feel safe.
IBTZ???
Chock one up for experience.
