The DUmmies can't even get their stories striaght on this ludicrous idea. This nutjob says that religion "breeds passivity", but the original poster syas that religion "seems to be at the epicenter of most of the worlds strife". Which one is it? I know your question is rhetorical, but i'm going to answer it anyway. The DUmmie doesn't mean actual passivity, they mean intellectual passivity. And they don't mean actual intellectual passivity, they mean that religion taken seriously makes people less likely to be nutbag liberals, which in DUmmieland is proof that you only read Archie comics.

Typical of many in our liberal mainstream Christian organizations today. We had an ELCA pastor who essentially fit this description. One Sunday during Adult Bible Study he threw the Bible onto the floor and declared it 'just another book'. That's why we're no longer associated with the ELCA. I just wonder, if these people really think the Bible is "just another book," why don't they just sleep in on Sundays, maybe read the Sunday NYT, and leave the rest of us the heck alone?

Don't be so proud of this technological terror you have created. The ability to connect with other moonbats and post pure pablum is insignifigant next to the power of controlling the Judicial Branch. LOL! Lately, when a troll posts some rant about how evil we conservatives are, I've been posting a picture of Vader with a four word caption: "Apology accepted, Captain Needa."

Here's another thing one of those annoying buzzkilling Founders had to say:

" I just wonder, if these people really think the Bible is "just another book," why don't they just sleep in on Sundays..."It's a reeducation process. They have to denigrate the source before they can approach 'the masses' with a message that will 'appeal'. It all has to do with the bottom line.
What they forget is that God/Jesus is not playing to the masses; only to those who accept the Holy Spirit and are willing to sacrifice their worldly lives to Him.

Absolutely the stupidest thread ever on DU, and that's saying something. That such incredible ignorance is pushed with such arrogant self-righteousness is very telling.
Tell me again, DUmmies, how you libs are all such peaceful, open-minded sorts who just want to let everyone live their lives as they would?
They preach tolerance to mask that within every liberal is the beating heart of a Totalitarian.

"I'm also a practicing High Church Anglican, although it would be more proper to call me a Neo-Platonist, (for example, I do not literally believe in the actual divinity of Christ, but I do believe in the metaphorical divinity of the philosophy of Christ: the difference between the two positions, to me, is reasonably immaterial. Neither do I believe that "god" exists in the way that say your dining room table exists or is conscious even in the way that your pet is conscious). My parents were and still are strict Atheists and until I was 18, I never set foot in a church."
Of all the loads of crap I have ever heard from these twits, this takes the cake. And I thought I had heard it all. Well, just goes to show you. I expect Charles would have a field day with this statement.

Sick bastards who have absolutely no understanding of human nature. It's thinking like this that leads to hellholes like North Korea and the Soviet Union.

Science isn't a religion. It's based on facts and repeatable, verified experiments, and the laws of physics and mathematics. Except for the science of Global Warming.

I wonder how they would like it if there was a law that said no one should be allowed to vote in any public election without first taking a year long course in American history and economics and attend The Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.

But I remember one thing she told me. To paraphrase, basically people with "personality disorders" aren't sick; they're just assholes.

Your wife is a very savvy lady Thanks, good-looking, too. After 33 years, 37 if you count our courtship, she still makes my heart go pitty-pat. She's a good mother to our children, and can cook, too. She's got it all, and I'm a very lucky man to have her.

The wonderful thing here is that you recognize it. Alot of men take a good wife for granted.
