National Security Whistleblowers Coalition puts out this press release for immediate release. When reading the wording consider the source.
On Wednesday, July 26, Russell Tice, former National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence analyst and a member of National Security Whistleblowers Coalition (NSWBC), was approached outside his home by two FBI agents who served him with a subpoena to testify in front of a federal grand jury. NSWBC has obtained a copy of the subpoena issued for Mr. Tices testimony and is releasing it to the public for the first time. The subpoena directs Mr. Tice to appear before the jury on August 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Eastern District of Virginia. Mr. Tice will be asked to testify and answer questions concerning possible violations of federal criminal law.
In response to the subpoena, Mr. Tice issued the following statement: This latest action by the government is designed only for one purpose: to ensure that people who witness criminal action being committed by the government are intimidated into remaining silent. He continued: To this date I have pursued all the appropriate channels to report unlawful and unconstitutional acts conducted [by the government] while I served as an intelligence officer with the NSA and DIA. It was with my oath as a US intelligence officer to protect and preserve the U.S. Constitution weighing heavy on my mind that I reported acts that I know to be unlawful and unconstitutional. The freedom of the American people cannot be protected when our constitutional liberties are ignored and our nation has decayed into a police state.
On December 22, 2005, the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition made public a request by Tice to report to Congress probable unlawful and unconstitutional acts by the government while he was an intelligence officer with NSA and DIA. In a press release, NSWBC urged the congress to hold hearings and let Mr. Tice testify. Mr. Tice, a responsible veteran intelligence officer, tried to use the so-called appropriate channels, including the United States Congress, to responsibly and lawfully disclose government wrongdoing.
Yeah Tice whatever. The fact is that the Federal Grand Jury is going to be hearing a lot of testimony as the DOJ has completed its investigation into the NSA and CIA prison scandal leaks (and others are continuing). There are going to be more subpoanas to come.
How exciting! 5 years from now someone will get probation for the leaks. I can hardly wait.
Yeah! Now we need some really cool (read lame) name for it!! (sarc/off)
Jeff, I understand your frustration but I disagree. Because of the continual and damaging leaks by partisan democrats to only hurt this president politically, while it puts us all in danger, I think people are going to take a fall big time. This is different than Socs Burglar.
Have you noticed Rockefeller has been DEAD SILENTA since right before the confirmation hearing for General Hayden to head the CIA? It is no coincidence.
They left out the "I hate Bush" part of the statement, but how does he KNOW that acts are unconstitutional? Is he a Judge in his spare time?
Well, now that he will be in court, with a Jury to decide on his acts, we'll just see if his disclosure of secrets is consistent with his agenda AND the law against it.
Wanna take one for the DNC team, Russ?

Ping aling to some new information!
I think MacRanger is the best...he says he's got people on the inside that gives him info...so it'll be interesting WHEN certain dimwits start to have their security clearance pulled. ;o)
The investigations are done on the NSA leak and the CIA prison story. People have bee polygraphed, some have failed and all evidence hads been gathered. It is now being viewed by a federal grand jury. Anyone that lies to the grand jury will be prosecuted, so look for people to start falling in the near future.
This is no Fitzmas. This is a real leak with serious consequences that can get people killed. People are going to be prosecuted for this.
Bada bing! I agree 100%. Mac is the source and has not been wrong to date. Rocky ( Rockefeller) is in allot of trouble!
How about "Wrist-slapgate"?
I'll expect a few "fall guys", but the NY Slimes will not be prosecuted, even though they KNOWINGLY published CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. If you come into possession of Classified Material, and in their case they were TOLD BEFOREHAND BY THE GOVERNMENT, you have a legal obligation not to disclose the information.
I believe the Attorney General (under orders) has been told not to pursue the NY Times, otherwise, they would be in court also....

Russell Tice career. Lots of different agencies for one defense analyst in a 20 yr career. Sounds like a loose cannon who lost it on a crusade against a former co-worker at DIA.
These career civil servants are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to fire so this guy must have a serious screw loose.

Nobody has to order anybody because nobody has the gonads to take on the liberal media. Not the House, not the Senate, and not the Whitehouse.
You got that right!
Thanks, Peach! Rocky is and has been totally HIDDEN .. I think something is going on, also. In fairness, his wife is ill and he had surgery, but still .............
Bada ping!
Democrats press for updated intelligence on Iraq
Wed Jul 26, 3:14 PM ET WASHINGTON (AFP) - Senate Democrats called on US Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte to provide fresh intelligence on Iraq, calling existing analyses dated.
The lawmakers sought an updated National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), saying the last one for Iraq was written in 2004, despite tumultuous changes across the country since then.
"Virtually every prediction made by administration officials about Iraq has turned out to be wrong, and it is time to get some straight answers and sound analysis," said Senator Harry Reid, leader of opposition Democrats in the Senate.
So, to this nut case testifying in front of a grand jury is 'intimidating him to remain silent'?! All he has to do is tell the truth and no problem. That's probably the problem. He can't tell the truth or he will be charged with perjury.
