In Neutral Switzerland, A Rising Radicalism

BERN, Switzerland -- For centuries, this Alpine nation has successfully relied on a strict policy of political neutrality to insulate it from the wars, invasions and revolutions that have raged outside its borders. These days, a new threat has emerged: one from within.

As they have elsewhere in Europe, Islamic radicals are making inroads in Switzerland. Last month, Swiss officials announced the arrests of a dozen suspects who allegedly conspired to shoot down an Israeli airliner flying from Geneva to Tel Aviv. In a related case, a North African man has been charged with organizing a plot from Swiss soil to blow up the Spanish supreme court in Madrid.

As they have elsewhere in Europe, Islamic radicals are making inroads in Switzerland.

Switzerland has practically no problems with Islamic radicals. It is of course possible that some idiots dreamed about shooting down a Israeli airliner (the target was Israel and not Switzerland in this case!), but usually the danger should be near zero.

It is the same thing like during the nazi time: Switzerland is needed as a discreet banker. There must be a place where Osama and his clan are parking their money. Furthermore they are smart enough to keep out of everything. This is the reason why nobody sane would ever attack Switzerland directly.

Since I live as a direct neighbour to the Swiss my estimation is: Switzerland is one of the safetest places on this planet. The muslim population is small and observed.
