Oh, and I forgot ours (F-14Ds) were carrying LANTIRN pods. "Ours" being in the airwing; I went from Phantoms (a REAL fighter - attack aircraft) to Hornets way back in 1986.
The SH with it's range, payload (nearly an A-6), ATFLIR, AESA, high degree of survivability........ makes for a ferocious CAS/IA platform.
