Kiss My Bitter Behind (Al Franken Gossip)
Bitter Waitress ^ | 6/2/06 | Bitter Waitress

Location: Minneapolis read more Minneapolis gossip Celebrity: Al Franken Restaurant: D'Amico Cucina

I started my bartending shift in the lounge at 10p and inherited three guys who had been there quite a while. They were kind of loud and getting tanked. One of the waiters told me that it was Al Fraken (sic) and some buddies (he looked familiar, but I couldn't place him). Anyway a couple walks by them and Franken makes a comment about the woman's a**. She throws a glass of wine in his face. Franken says something else about her a** how many people have sampled it. This time the boyfriend (or husband) grabs Franken by the neck and punches him solidly in the face. Franken falls into the arms of his buddies totally dazed. They quickly paid their tab and took off - very minimal tip, by the way. I got the lady another glass of wine...

Unfortunately this is totally believable. Franken has a major reputation as a significant jerk. It comes through in his "humor" too.

I think I'm going to wait for some sort of corroboration for this story. Sounds bogus to me, frankly.

It's not news. It's gossip.

He'll fit right in with Kennedy and Dodd. Franken can insult the waitress, while Kennedy and Dodd make a sandwich.

Funny, that's what they say about his show, too.

If she was there and it is her testimony, it is not gossip.

Uh, not necessarily. People occasionally tell lies. It's actually pretty common.

Go to that site. Sign up. Once you sign up, you can post any story you like. Whether it is true or not is impossible to tell.

Anonymous posts on web sites like that one are often not true.

I have no problem with gossip. I just don't think that gossip belongs in News/Activism, which is where this was posted originally. The Mods have moved it to Bloggers/Personal.

Gossip is not News. It is gossip.

It was identified as gossip on the site it came from. It was posted here as News.

"You guys are just totally dependant on the AP."

What? Are you serious? This thing came from some site called "bitterwaitress.com". It's in their "gossip" section.

There is a large difference between sites that publish news stories and some anonymous post by someone on a site for waitress stories that aren't even signed.

Everything that appears on the web is not necessarily truthful. You should know that by now. Maybe Franken did exactly what the waitress said he did. Maybe he did not. We have no way of checking on that, do we. The person who wrote the gossip did not identify herself. We don't know what restaurant this supposedly happened in.

Do you believe everything you see on the web? If so, I have some wonderful opportunities to tell you about. What would you say if I told you I used to be the Deputy Finance Minister of Nigeria? I have US$24,756,238 in a bank account in Zimbabwe. I need the help of a reliable person to help me move those funds to the USA. If you will help me, I will give you $3 million.
