SARASOTA, FL. (NS) -
Democrat Congressman John "I used to be a Marine" Murtha thinks that he knows the real truth about Haditha. But does he???
He's been running his mouth to every last cable show that he can appear on. This 'loose-lipped' former Marine has accused troops of wantonly killing some two dozen civilians, including children, "in cold blood" in the terrorist stronghold in Iraq last November. Currently there are 'at least' two ongoing military investigations into the incident itself and the actions of higher-ups in the Haditha aftermath...
I am reminded about the phrase, "loose lips sink ships"...
All of us who served in Vietnam remember what happened there when several hundred Vietnamese civilians were killed in a 'Free Fire Zone' by a Company of American Army Troops, and the subsequent trial of Lt. William Calley...
This is NO Vietnam and let me repeat to everyone that the investigation is still ongoing about Habitha and it is not complete...
In fact the official reports aren't expected to be released for several weeks yet...
We do not know the truth about Haditha, and neither does John Murtha. The media is insistant on calling the alleged massacre a "massacre" before all the facts are in, and that just isn't right...
Does anybody other than me think that it just might be more sensible if we just let the investigators handle their investigation without any of us passing judgement until ALL the facts are in???
VA. Sen. John Warner, who like Murtha also served in the Marines, has struck the correct stance about Habitha. He refused, unlike Murtha, to render a verdict against the Marines before trial and avoiding adding any more 'fuel to the fire'. He has taken these allegations very seriously, but is withholding any judgement until the investigation is completed...
We all do know that children are dead and others have been orphaned. There are pictures of bullet holes and bloodied homes. There are evolving stories about what happened last Nov. 19 and serious allegations of a possible cover-up...
But is this what happened? There are 2 sides to this story, and none of us know the real facts yet and we should all just let the investigations proceed before any of us pass any further judgement on anybody...
Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, the Marine who was killed by a roadside IED that day, followed a proud family tradition of military service. He had received a commendation for bravery on his first tour of duty in Iraq in 2004. One of his fellow Marines said Terrazas's body was split in two by the bomb explosion that rocked his Hummer while on patrol that morning...
Those of us who have seen combat and lost one of our buddies all know the feeling for wanting quick revenge against the enemy that has killed our friends and fellow soldiers. Those of us who served in Vietnam all know what a 'Free Fire Zone' is and what the 'rules of engagement' entail to them. But for the most part, cooler heads have always prevailed and the rules of engagement followed. Something like this alledged incident in Habitha rarely happens, if at all...
Our Troops are the best equipped and best trained in the World and they do follow the Military Code of Conduct while they are performing their duties around the World...
And there was this FACT: Haditha was known and confirmed to be full of terrorists on that day last November. The AP has already pointed out that "in just three days last August, six Marine snipers were killed in Haditha and 14 Marines died in nearby Parwana in the deadliest roadside bombing of the war."
Most-wanted al Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is reported to also have lived in Haditha. The Washington Post quoted a military lawyer noting that Nov. 19 was the Marine 3rd Battalion's "hottest day" in Iraq...
Is there any rational thinking person out there who doesn't think al-Zarqawi was capable of doing something like this hoping that our Military forces would be blamed???
"In addition to the drone surveillance on that day," the Washington Post reported, "AV-8 Harriers were dropping bombs, helicopters were evacuating wounded, and a large firefight occurred about one-third of a mile from the site of the civilian shootings, said several people familiar with the investigation." Audio of that radio traffic reportedly contradicts Cong. Murtha's claim that the Marines did not come under small-arms fire after the roadside explosion, according to one of the Post's military sources...
We also know this factas well, that Naval Criminal Investigative Service officials have not turned their backs. Time magazine, which initially broke the story of survivors' accounts that prompted the military probe, reports that Haditha residents -- who have yet to be visited by any of Iraq's own officials -- "were gratified by the thoroughness" and "were especially impressed by the NCIS investigators" conducting three separate enquiries...
Finally, there is one incontrovertible fact: There are countless numbers of anti-war people on the American Left rooting for failure of any kind by America and our Military. They believe the worst about our troops. They have also embraced people who've lied about their military service and lied about wartime atrocities. They've allied themselves with socialist kooks and coddled murderous dictators. They are looking for any excuse to pull out, abandon military operations and reconstruction, and to impeach the president...
Remember that when you go to vote in the 2006 Elections...
These same people insist on giving suspected foreign terrorists more benefit of the doubt than our own men and women in uniform. And that is something I am not going to do...
I support ALL of those who defend, protect and serve America. I honor those who would put their lives on the line everyday in the War on Terror so that we might be free and safe from Radical Islamic Terrorist's sworn to our destruction...
I will stand up for America and our Military! Meanwhile all we can do is wait and pray for those in harms way defending our freedoms that 'some' take for granted, just so they can have a voice to 'protest'...
I will also remind you that the killing of innocent civilians is and remains something our American Military Forces try to avoid at all costs. War is HELL, and people die. But this, in fact, is the Radical Islamic Jihadist's way of life...
They don't care about others and will kill anybody that gets in the way of their perverted and radical way of defining the Islamic religion...
Wake Up America! This IS a Religious War on Terror between Christians and Radical Fundamentalist Islamic Terrorist's...
God Bless America...
For Now, That's Just 'OUR' Opinion...

Well, since I spent the time to get it - I'm posting it anyway! Double exposure of the creep. ;*)
Thanks for your time (and trouble)!
I should have read your entire post!
Are you by chance working on the theory posted in #10 and #26? The appearance by sKerry was 2 weeks and 2 days after the rumble in the House.
W/O 1-10-06:
During a Town Hall meeting earlier this week Democrat Congressmen John Murtha (PA) and Jim Moran (VA) touted their call for a withdrawal from Iraq, an unexpected turn of events occurred. Moran and Murtha continued the anti-war diatribes which included their relating talks they've had with military officers and rank-and-file troops in Iraq. Murtha has said the military is broken, morale within the ranks is poor, we need to pullout immediately, and other defeatist rantings.
On 1-15-06: "Our troops have become the primary target of the insurgency. They are united against U.S. forces, and we have become a catalyst for violence," Rep. Murtha says
2-16-06:
At a hearing on the Pentagon budget before the House Appropriations Committee's subcommittee on defense, Mr. Murtha, also said we could not win the war militarily.
"Where I disagree is fighting terrorism in Iraq," Mr. Murtha said. "I think that we're inciting terrorism, and that's my personal opinion. ... When you go in ... with the tactics we have to use to protect American lives, you're going to create enemies. And that's what we've done."
No problem! I was headed off when I saw your post. Too tired to continue.
I'm saying that after seeing the memo written by Rockefeller and the Dumbocrats in 2003, I don't put anything past them. It's a stretch, but with these traitors, who knows?
I am not convinced it is that big of a stretch. Sad......
