The Democrats are nothing but pandering socialists who have sold out to corporate globalists, whereas Republicans are pandering corporatists who have sold out to socialistic globalists.

I think Ms. Hillahrea is gambling on just this scenario. There is no other that could possibly work out for her.

Not a gamble at all. She's playing the same playbook as before...move toward the center, lay out cheese for conservatives...

Just something to think about...Ronald Reagan in all his years of running for President, never, ever jumped ship to a third party. Instead he left us with the 11th commandment.

RR was something else...he understood the pragmatism of politics...and that it ultimately takes GENERATIONS to acheive meaningful change in policy and politics. Not 1-2 election cycles. The liberal spent from 1932 to 1990 getting us to where we are.....

Will Ross Perot appear in 2008 to give Hillary Clinton the oval office? I would not be surprised at all. The Clintons will find somebody to drain the conservative votes off and win.

Third parties cant make it without a strong candidate. Someone exceptional like Teddy Roosevelt.

I know of no one in politics I can call exceptional. They all carry the same baggage.

This sounds so good but it has a huge flaw. It's called human nature. The Constitution Party platform is no better than the Republican platform.

If anyone believes that once an elected CP candidate gets into office, they'll govern differently from an elected conservative Republican, they're deceiving themselves.

It is so easy for CP people to stand there and sanctimoniously declare that they are better than Republicans. They've never had to prove it. They'll never have to prove it and they know it.

They're a bunch of cowards. If they had any courage, they'd be running in Republican primaries where they could get elected.

I was once sucked into believing they were more pure and sent them my hard-earned money. Then I observed their campaigns and became angry.

I heard their campaign ads. They ran against Bush--not Gore or Kerry. Do they really want me to believe that Bush is more dangerous than a Democrat? I'm not that stupid. I was stupid enough at one time to send them money but now I have contempt for them.

They're human, too. Never again.

A third party, to prove its viability and to gain real influence, should concentrate on vulnerable Congressional districts and forget the Presidency.

If a third party could get two to five Senate seats and ten or twelve House seats, the Dems and Repubs would HAVE to do business with them, and then the third party would start producing results.

Why waste millions on a Presidential bid that you can't win anyway? Why risk a Hillary(!) presidency?

Completely agree. This numbnuts has it exactly backwards. A re-run of Perot running as a nativist third party candidate is Hilary's only conceivable chance to win.

This article nails the Two Big Parties pretty clearly. They are also right about a Third Party. However, not the Constitution, Libertarian, nor the now pretty much defunct Reform party will be able to get their collective crap together enough to offer a serious challenge. The Greenies and the Commies never had anything to get together in the first place and are an even bigger joke than the Democrats.

Ain't gonna happen. Not until things get a LOT worse. Which, unfortunately, is bound to happen.

I'll take a few RINOs for a couple years more till they can be weeded out instead of a guaranteed Clinton Presidency.

As a foreigner, let me warn you I have a feeling all of this calls for Third Party movements among American conservatives are plans of VLWC (vast left-wing conspiracy) moles planted deep inside the conservative movement. Just as the KGB had plenty of spies in the West and they are some of the last people who you would have guessed they are Soviet spies, only a fool will believe the Left in America never copies this tactics.

I'm quite sure some of the VLWC moles are dressing themselves up as "bona-fide" "true conservatives".

I still blush when I think about Perot. And, if I were to consider voting for the Constitution Party (which I already consider my ideological home) who would they run?

In any case, the author is right, on one thing. True Conservatives are well and truly tired of being diddled by the Republicans and having our votes taken for granted.
