Forthcoming book "Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders" by Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and "Unfit for Command" co-author Jerome Corsi details the devastating social and economic costs of rampant illegal immigration. The Mexican government's influence is questioned. How will this controversial book impact this fall's elections?
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2006 -- George W. Bush's call to deploy National Guard troops along the Mexican border in an effort to keep out illegal immigrants represents a major shift from the president's own calls for amnesty earlier this year. What prompted this development? The Minuteman Project, the all-volunteer civilian border patrol that Bush once called "vigilantes," has helped rally public opinion and forced Washington to finally address the devastating costs wrought by years of uncontolled illegal immigration.
In "Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders" (World Ahead Publishing; hardcover; ISBN 0977898415), the explosive new book out August 1st, Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and co-author Jerome Corsi show in stark and irrefutable detail not just how our southern border has disintegrated into a Wild West where anything goes -- including murder, human and drug trafficking -- but how and why our elected officials have willingly aided and abetted this Trojan horse invasion.
"Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders" is the first time this story has been told. Controversial from its inception, the Minuteman Project has forced cowardly politicians to make public their stands on illegal immigration for the first time -- a development which brought millions of prostestors into the streets this spring and has insured that illegal immigration will continue to be the #1 issue in this falls elections.
Jerome Corsis prior book "Unfit For Command: Swiftboat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry" torpedoed Kerrys presidential campaign and entered the term swiftboating into the American lexicon. Will "Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders" cost George W. Bush the Republican control of Congress? Or will it lead the president and the GOP to take steps beyond deploying National Guardsmen along our 2000 mile border?
"With its no-holds-barred take on the most pressing issue facing the country today," says Eric M. Jackson, president of World Ahead Publishing, "'Minutemen' will energize, infuriate and mobilize millions of Americans on both sides of the issue. We're proud to publish what is sure to be one of 2006s most controversial books."

We owe a lot to the Minutemen. It's amazing how those brave volunteers have elevated the illegal immigration issue and finally forced Washington to pay attention. As a resident of the Left Coast who can see firsthand the problems that illegal immigration is causing to society, I tip my hat to them.
Now let's hope that President Bush has gotten the hint and proposes some good solutions to this problem in his speech tonight...

Looks like another book to get and read.
Bush is proving to be a disappointment ... to common sense ... Homeland Security is becoming a joke with open borders like this. Who is he kidding? These illegals can be as dangerous as terrorists.

The Minutemen just may be the last patriots in the country. They should be a model of change for conservatives. When no one in a position of power will do what's right, it's time for the American people to step up and do what needs to be done. This tactic could and should be used for issues other than immigration.

They are true patriots, that's for sure. And they used the same model that our forefathers employed -- voluntary organization of willing men (and women!) to answer a threat to our republic.
Conservatives should definitely tip their hats to Gilchrist and his fellow patriots for what they've done.

With all respect, I do not grasp how many here lay the immegration blame on President Bush's doorstep.
Yes, I understand he is currently president, but this whole illegal immigration issue has been going on in some form since Reagan's day, and probably before.
Let me stipulate that I support airtight border enforcement. However, like it or not, there is a strong constituency in the form of agricultural and business interests that have been driving this train for DECADES. This constituency is not going to go away quietly. Are they wrong? I believe they are. But my point is that it does take time to turn a large ship in the ocean, and the immigration issue is a large tanker that should have been turned a long, long time ago.
I recall anytime someone raised the illegal immigration issue the Democrats and the MSM deliberately branded those people as racists as they themselves openly pandered for the Hispanic vote. Now we have packaging telling us - in Spanish - how soft the toilet paper is!
My larger point is that this is a huge policy issue that, while rightfully being debated now, is long over due. My fellow Freeper who are intent on lacerating this president on this issue due so with no regard to modern political history or the other powerful political interests that must be successfully talked down.

Bush never called the Minuteman Project "vigilantes", but good luck selling your book.

No - he answered a question about ANYONE "hunting migrant people along the border" - the Minutemen don't do that, do they?
To: clawrence3
I know you aid and abet criminals.
Do you also try to rewrite history to your view?

WACO, Texas President Bush yesterday said he opposes a civilian project to monitor illegal aliens crossing the border, characterizing them as "vigilantes."
He said he would pressure Congress to further loosen immigration law.
More than 1,000 people including 30 pilots and their private planes have volunteered for the Minuteman Project, beginning next month along the Arizona-Mexico border. Civilians will monitor the movement of illegal aliens for the month of April and report them to the Border Patrol.

Since when on FR do we trust the MSM over reading the actual question and answer? You also never answered my first question: "Does the Minuteman Project hunt migrant people along the border?".
To: clawrence3
WE have no "migrants" on our side of the border, only Citizens and INVADERS.

Fine - does the Minuteman Project hunt invaders along the border? "Yes" or "no" would do.
