Naw, the homo-perve redefinition of marriage can't possibly be a slippery slope.

Nope.

Never Happen.

Even a small family is not that easy to support. How much more so a polygamous family - why, even the moslems permit four wifes only to those capable of affording such an establishment.

First off I have now watched that cnn special now twice tonight. I am pretty aghast at whats going on here.

First question is this. How come where I live a child just has to say boo and Child welfare is all over parents. But we have this wacko situation going on out there all over the west and the State says it can't do nothing. I am pretty sure there some stuff with underage kids going on too all under the guise of religion.

Also, the report is quite clear that there is a very anti federal govt feeling there. THey are paying no taxes and all the kids are on welfare and food stamps.

If polgamy is illegal why is not being prosecuted. If polagamy is allowed then what is the justification for saying Homosexuals cannot have marriage then.

Is there a conspiracy of silence among Politicians on the Federal and State level in some these states just to ignore this problem. It seems to have some social problems in that marriages are breaking up over this when Pologamist Mormons are going after non polygamist mens wives. This is like a whole different world. How many other villages and hamelets are there like this out there in the West.

Why should polygamy be legalized?

Because sometimes, the worse thing you can do to an idiot is give him exactly what he wants.

I have enough headaches with one.

Polygamy is having one wife too many.

So is monogamy...

Seriously, I have encountered some of these FLDS people - male and female. After speaking with them it soon became obvious that they are not right in the head.

A common practice in their community is for the older men to covet the attactive younger females and eliminate the competition by inventing "crimes against the church" committed by younger, mostly teen-aged males. These males are then excommunicated and expelled from the community. In Salt Lake City there are organizations to help these "orphans" adapt to the modern world that they have been totally cut off from their entire lives living in these whack-job polygamist communities.

Polygamy is only about power coveted by the men who practice it. It goes against human nature and must not become acceptable.

Not to be offensive, really, but you may be just a little out of your mind.

In polygamous societies, young (young!) girls are promised and, therefore, owned, before they can even consider such decisions for themselves.

To those for whom this has already happened, even though it is illegal, there is very little help. Were it legal, there would be even less.

I stayed at a B&B on the Nevada/Utah border a few years ago. Fabulous place, natural hot springs pumped into the tub. The owner was one of six wives. Each had a business. "Hubby", arranged for her for "as long as she could remember", just collected the coin. She was so sweet, and looked so sad. It took the shine off of my stay.

Anyone who finds this acceptable should probably move to Pakistan.

The biggest reason why it should remain illegal is on HBO... Just watch Big Love and you'll see why no man in his right mind would EVER want more than one wife, and why no woman would ever want to be in that situation.

Because the government ... and start to greatly distrust the authorities and our laws.

This should be universal.

This report seems to be incomplete. He's not one of the most wanted for encouraging polygamy, he's on the most wanted list for encouraging poligamy between older men and underage girls by force.

Au contraire. Polygamy should not be legalized. And I say this on the authority of the Bible. King David went and got crazy with around 300 wives. But his son, Soloman, really went hog wild, and bedded down 3 or 4 times that. And the moral is: The sins of the son, WILL ALWAYS be worse than the father, because the son will take many, many more things for granted that the father did not. Any questions, please consult your BIBLE...

If I was married to 12 women...They would ALL be mad at me at the same time....
AND I would still end up on the couch.

Note to men...always make sure the couch you buy is confortable enough to sleep on. Some of the best sleep you will ever get is on that couch-even when your wife is happy with you.

Frankly I have NO idea where I would put the extra wives, let alone 35 kids. I don't think a loving wife would look forward to a bunkbed...

And one giant bed is no solution either. I have a hard enough time getting my one wife to shut up at night, give her eleven other sister wives to discuss world problems with at 3 in the morning, and its back to the couch again for me.

Outlawing polygamy makes much more sense to me now that I'm married than before
