Illegal Immigration: Reducing Salaries and Increasing Profits
Televicentro 4 (Spanish-language article) ^ | April 12, 2006 | Televicentro 4 (Puerto Rico)

(English-language translation)

SAN JUAN - The [illegal] immigration by Mexicans into the United States brought forth the reduction in the salaries of poor and less-skilled Americans, according to recent studies. "The wave of immigration during the 1980s and '90s decreased the salaries of American high-school dropouts by 8.2%," university professor Rafael Ruiz Ruiz stated on radio station WKAQ.

According to Ruiz, who teaches at the University of Texas but is a visiting professor at the University of Puerto Rico this year, large corporations favor imposing a flexible immigration policy so as to reduce production costs.

The poorest and less-skilled American "has to be hurt when there is an avalanche of immigrants who are competing with him," he added. Just as Hispanic organizations and the Catholic Church have made themselves heard through the massive demonstrations that have taken place in the United States, so have large corporations expressed their interest in keeping the majority of the so-called "illegals".

"Why is it that The Wall Street Journal, why is it that the large corporations are in favor of a very liberal immigration program?" [Ruiz] asked. "It's an enormous force, with very cheap labor."

In his judgement, corporations are championing not only legalizing the status of millions of illegal immigrants, who are penetrating the northern borders to the tune of some 400,000 per year, but also seek formalizing the guest worker program.

Now, there is a dilemma here. The bleeding hearts who favor legalizing the illegals are also supposed to stand up for America's poor and oppose "big business".

They also add increasing welfare roles and increasing healthcare costs...... I guess that doesn't matter.

No dilemma here. The Democrats know they have a lock on the vote of America's poor and now they are shopping for the vote of the illegal alien poor. The Democrats know that if 20 million illegals are given amnesty, the Democrat Party will grow by 20 million.

Seems the only looser in this situation is the taxpayer.

And the Republicans who are supposed to stand for national defense and rule of law and be the Party of Principle also favor legalizing the flow of cheap illegal labor.

Up is down and black is white.

It's got to be much higher than that. We went from zero to twelve million in the span of 20 years. That's an average of 600,000 a year, and since it's increased in recent years, I'd put today's figure way above that.

The "elites" in Washington are getting their FAT paychecks. They don't care about anything else except their next election.

That's what WE can do about it - We can throw their butts out of Washington at the next election.

I think that number is low. I heard that illegals are costing the state of California 18 billion dollars a year...
