This bizarre ritual is a potential gateway to attachment disorder for the child. It is incredible what a newborn child's terror and confusion and hopeless search for "Mom's voice" (which it has heard for months) can do to a child's later emotional health.

The symptoms show up sometimes many years later.
This is not hoo ha. I speak from personal experience. I have have raised and continue to raise children affected by "The Primal Wound"
http://www.nancyverrier.com/prim_book.php

It is tragic that this happens to some kids when children's bonds with birthmother are severed, even if immediately replaced by adoptive parents' love. But to think of a cult actively inflicting this emotionally disruptive practice on their own much wanted children ...is absurd. It IS a form of child abuse.

All I can think is sadness that Katie Holmes has subjugated all natural maternal instincts, succumbed to the Stockholm syndrome with these weird people, and is in for a roller coaster life with this nutjob cult.

The creed also states that immediately after leaving the safety of the womb the baby should "be wrapped somewhat tightly in a warm blanket, very soft, and then left alone for a day or so"....

Child abandonment is a criminal offense. These people are actually admitting to considering these practices prior to delivery? Is there anything on the books to charging folks with child abuse before his birth? This is COMPLETELY nutso.

Tom Cruise has probably done more damage to Scientology during this pregnancy than anyone has before.

Someone should kidnap Katie Holmes and save her from this lunatic.

This is child abuse.

No, I thinks it's the beginning of child abuse. Remember, this kid has to live with these creeps for 18 years.

Katie is NOT much of a mother. A mother would KILL to take care of their baby properly. Letting a newborn not have the comfort of their mother's voice from birth is a crime.

You know, if you are going to make a new religion because all other religions have "kooky" traditions based on that person's reasoning, why in the heck would you make a new religion that contained many more kooky traditions?

I mean, please tell me how not having motherly contact is beneficial. Is there some basis for this retarded belief or did L. Ron Hubbard just pull a bunch of "beliefs" out of a hat to see how many suckers he could get as some kind of sick experiment?

actually, Blogger, this is not only child abuse, but child neglect, and child endangerment.

The Dept of Family and Children Services ought to be all over this case.

How horribly sad. How can birth seem traumatic for the baby if his mom is birthing in silence, btw? (maybe they're doing hypnotic birth. I don't know) Second, when I had my last baby (at home) he was like a social butterfly. He enjoyed meeting his family and being held. Still does (as he tries to push keys on my keyboard).

Was reading Parade Magazine with a Tom Cruise interview. The repoter said he said down-to-earth and genuine during the interview. Then Katie came in and he did his usual weird gushing act. It was noted that Katie seemed spacey, not really there, and was constantly smiling.

This girl (and I emphasize GIRL!) is such a dolt! Anything to please her man (if you consider Tommy a man), even if it means no loving contact with her child. That's disgusting to me.
This girl is gonna have a lot of regret in her lifetime if she doesn't wake up.

She is Cruise's beard and is a fawning, willing worshipper of his, sent to create the spawn of...something bad, I don't really know.

This will be a wonderful study in how not to raise a child.

Oh, that poor child. Tom Cruise is a nut bag and it's sad that Katie is following his rule. Scientology is such a crock.

Babies need love, attention and bonding with the mother (including being talked to), most importantly right after they come out of the womb.

Dolts!!!

"A source told Closer magazine: "Katie respects Tom's dedication to Scientology."

Sounds like Tommy should just move to Mars, and have Katie respect that...
