If there's a buck to be made, most companies couldn't care less.

I'm reminded of something I saw at the time of the Iranian hostage situation in the late 70's. An Iranian official was being interviewed and was asked how Iran expected to keep up their air force (US planes) if spare parts were to be embargoed. His reply was (paraphrased) "We're talking about American business here, there will be no problem."

Mr. Epstein needs a conduct a reality check. That appears to be exactly what he's doing.
And the reality he has uncovered is rather disturbing.

The author needs to get a life.. Claiming these companies support terrorism because they wouldn't donate money to some symposium.. Utter BS as much as the comment hinting that Marriott somehow supports terrorism because the terrorists preferred to stay there... Reality check time.. companies get hundreds of requests to 'sponsor' symposiums all the time. Most won't unless it is by a highly recognizable group and directly related to their industry. Since 9-11, hundreds of symposiums and seminars have popped up all over, each begging for finanincal donations.. These companies have to make a decision not only is this something that is directly related to their industry/line of work, but if it is even a legitimate or worth-wile event that is different from the hundreds of other calls they received the same week....

It's probably because the Symposium is perceived by the Nervous Nellies of business and industry to be a "right-wing" event. Especially if the speakers include Horowitz and Pipes.
Translated: brainwashing of most captains of commerce regarding "right-wing extremism" has been very effective lo these past few decades. Yet they have and continue to pay tribute in one way or another to the First Extorter of the United States, Jesse Jackson

And the reality he has uncovered is rather disturbing. Just because a company chooses not to support Mr. Epstien's pet project does not make them anti-America, pro-Islam, or anything else. There are legal as well as political and business ramifications.

This is a two-fer for the companies:
1. Keep their economic advantage with entities that even may support the terrorists
2. Have a chance to be the last ones that have their heads sawed off if
the terrorists do win.

Well, I'm not sure how I feel about this. You bring a story from a blog and call it news. The story? Someone's planning a symposium, and a list of corporations didn't contribute to it.
No background, really, on the symposium. Just a list of companies that didn't contribute. I'll bet they didn't contribute to lots of things.
I don't think this is news, frankly. I think it's a hit piece. Now, I'm willing to change my tune, if I can get some more information on this symposium and find that it is something that would deserve corporate sponsorship.
Can you find a link to a story about this not from a blog?

There's a saying that goes, "If you're not for us, you're against us." It's not just the leaders of nations who have said it, God Himself stated something similar when He made it clear that there is no fence-sitting with Him; that if you're not on His side, you are indeed on the devil's side; you can't serve both God and Mammon. In the battle zone called Earth where He sent us to learn, surely choosing sides has never been more important than it is now. So why are so many American businesses choosing the side of Islam? And more importantly, why aren't we--as their customers, their bottom line, their paychecks--screaming bloody murder at their apparent choice?
Were the Churches generous or if they don't give you money, they are also for Islam.

I don't give to every charity that asks me for money, even if I fully support their work....in fact I ignore the vast amjority of requests for money. A lot of them come from political causes that I support....does that mean that I am against their cause...? Of course not, it means that I am only willing to give to a few charities and that means rejecting most of them.
This is not a news story...it is just whining....IMHO.

I agree with you, and I feel that this whole thing should be moved over to Bloggers/Personal. When NOT donating to some random "Symposium" means that you are for the Muslims, then pretty much everyone would fit into that category.

Can you find a link to a story about this not from a blog? You're right, I probably should have posted this in the 'blog' section.
Here's the home page of America's Truth Forum.
And here's an earlier story at NewMediaJournal that has some more background information, along with a somewhat less polemic tone.
There probably won't be any MSM articles until after the event, since it isn't "news" until it actually happens.

When NOT donating to some random "Symposium" means that you are for the Muslims, then pretty much everyone would fit into that category. If you stop a minute and consider the astounding range of stuff that corporations DO support, the complete refusal of the listed organizations to back a symposium featuring top international experts on terrorism is not devoid of news value...

Claiming these companies support terrorism because they wouldn't donate money to some symposium. I agree. That claim is overstated.
