Bush Nominates Harriet Miers As Dubai Ports "US Entity"

The decision by Dubai Ports World to hand over control of port terminals within the United State to a US entity has cooled a political firestorm that surrounded the Bush Administration. The move, largely believed to have been engineered by the Administration to stave off inevitable Congressional action, was announced Thursday.
Point Five has learned through its exclusive sources that the entity that Dubai Ports World will transfer control to, at the behest of President Bush, is none other than former Supreme Court nominee and current White House Counsel Harriet Miers.
Harriet was managing partner at a top Texas law firm, said an Administration spokesman. Thats just the kind of experience thats perfect for someone who will be protecting our ports.
It is believed that although Miers does not speak a word of Arabic, her extensive experience nodding and smiling during the Presidents incomprehensible briefings makes her uniquely qualified to nod and smile at her new UAE masters.
Theres always somebody trying to force a shipment through customs maybe the manifest is improperly filled out, maybe theres some other irregularity. Harriets go-along style should really help streamline things down at the docks.
Dubai Ports World accepted Bushs suggestion after the advice received by consultant Bill Clinton proved less than helpful. Six hundred thousand dollars, and all the guy could bring us for port managers were a bunch of chubby interns.
Managing the expectations of powerful shipping companies, her results-oriented UAE overseers, and the always belligerent longshoremans union should be easy for Miers after experiencing the fishbowl of Supreme Court nominee politics.
Harriets tough as nails. She never backs down from a fight. Well
except for the Supreme Court thing.
