HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Haleigh Poutre's birth mother is expected to file a court motion seeking more of a say in her daughter's medical care.
Allison Avrett plans to appear in Holyoke Juvenile Court on Wednesday.
Haleigh, 12, has been hospitalized since police say her adoptive mother and stepfather severely beat her in September.
About a week after taking custody of the Westfield girl in September, the Department of Social Services sought permission to remove her from life support.

Excerpt from THE NAZI DOCTORS: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide by Robert J. Lifton:
Perhaps the most moving of all expressions of opposition in Nazi Germany involved three medical students and a few additional students from other faculties at the University of Munich, in the dramatic White Rose resistance group. Over several months during 1942 to 1943, the group issued bold leaflets denouncing the Nazi regime and its immoral behavior (For Hitler and his followers there can be no punishment on this earth which will expiate their crimes), and calling for the German people to overthrow the regime and restore their good name. The leaflets also declared: We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will give you no rest. The students were eventually discovered and condemned by a Nazi peoples court; most were beheaded. Significantly, one of the groups leading figures, Hans Scholl, had been inspired by a sermon of Bishop Clemens von Galen of Münster, condemning the euthanasia program, and is said to have responded, At last somebody has had the courage to speak out.5959. Thanks for the pic. Thanks for finding it, a great idea in the first place. Those pics of the three martyrs burn into my memory too.
Logan's Run was one of them.
That's it. Logan's Run w/Farrah Fawcett making a run for it because she was getting on in years: 30 or so.

I couldn't think of a more excellent choice 8mm. Up until now they died for basically nothing. What a tribute that would be!
$72.00 for a VHS! The cheapest used one is $69.75. I wonder why it's so expensive. The reviews are all positive, and everybody seems to think it's worth the price.
"Initially, the German government refused to allow the film to be shown abroad due to an epilogue which pointedly observed that the legal judgment condemning the White Rose society had never been rescinded."
Medical people say that PVS is misdiagnosed around 43% of the time, and we can't even know for sure if that's true.
Medicine is always learning, so you would think they would realize to not be so hasty.
Poor little Haleigh was almost a victim of this rush with death.
The video got lots of supporting reviews, but I didn't notice mention of the religious backgrounds of the martyrs. Idealistic, yes, but no mention of whether they were Catholics or other Christians or Jews.
Perhaps they only sought that part that supported a more leftist view of the anti-war crowd.
Looks like the film is a good one, though. If some more ask for it, maybe the prices will drop.
That looks like a powerful film, too, but once again although mantioned, her faith is downplayed, at least by the reviewers. I do not doubt the reviewers of both films liked very much the quality film making and the attack on the Hitler "right wing extremists". and glossed over the faith in god shown by these martyrs.

Recently, multiple revisionist Catholic writers including some Catholic Theologians have opined on the significance of the Terry Schiavo case asserting that it was morally licit to remove her feeding tube, thus insuring that she would die of dehydration. This author has rebutted them in the past.[1] Unfortunately, various writers continue to promulgate opinions which contradict constant Catholic magisterial teaching as if it were compatible with orthodox Catholic belief and practice. The latest article adds to the perfidy by incredibly; alleging that the late Holiness Pope John Paul IIs 2004 allocution on the Persistent Vegetative State was itself revisionist.[2]

Terri after the attack and before bioethicking.
The white flag folks are still touting their ribbons in remembrance of March 31.
The White Rose beats the white flag ribbon proposed by the advanced medical directive folks. I can imagine how a white flag would have helped those martyrs as they faced the guillotine with a living will in hand.
Somewhere, I think it was a linked page, one comes across the words of Gauleiter Giesler addressing the students. He is very soothing. He tells the girls that they obviously are in school because they are not attractive enough to find a boy friend. He advises them to leave higher education to men and to stay home and make one good boy baby for Germany every year.
Girls LOVE to hear those things <g>
Whatever happened to the concept of heresy? A death-worshipper in Catholic clothing is heretical. Death is the wages of sin. It belongs to the Enemy.
