Remembering Ilan Halimi (AP deceives again)
Power Line ^ | 2/26/06 | John Hinderacker

The Associated Press has a report on the Paris demonstration. The account of the demonstration is straightforward, but then we have this:

The march was in memory of a 23- year-old cellphone salesman, Ilan Halimi, who was kidnapped on Jan. 21 and allegedly tortured by a gang in the southern Paris suburb of Bagneux.

What is the point of that completely gratuitous "allegedly"? The very next sentence says:

He was found naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks on Feb. 13 near some railroad tracks south of Paris.

And this kind of thing is a staple of reporting on Halimi's murder:

It remains unclear whether anti- Semitism was the motive for the grisly killing, which may have been part of an extortion racket. Sarkozy said last Tuesday that Halimi's attackers had been primarily motivated by greed.

It's hard to excuse this level of obtuseness. I don't doubt that Halimi's murderers wanted money. The fact that they abducted him might have been "primarily motivated by greed." But greed doesn't explain anything that they did over the ensuing three weeks. Greed doesn't explain why Halimi was tortured to death. The world wasn't shocked by this crime because of the abduction; it was shocked by what followed. So I wish the media would stop trying to tell us that the vicious animals who murdered Ilan Halimi were just hoping to get rich.

A French Jewish man was kidnapped by a gang of Moroccan Muslims who called themselves 'the barbarians' or some such nonsense.

They demanded a huge ransom from his parents. Believe it or not the French police told his parents to ignore the kidnappers because they were 'working on it'.

Well suprise suprise the Moroccan muslims tortured the young man to death.

Predictably the French Police and the French Press have all said it had nothing to do with him being Jewish in spite of the fact that the kidnappers were chanting verses from the koran while they tortured him. We know this because they kidnappers were on the phone with the victims parents at the time.

I'm not suprised either. After all that book the muzzies consider holy tells them that kidnapping for ransom is ok. So is murder when they're not paid off.

Mohamet (piss be upon him) said it himself. So these fine sons of mohamet were just following the tenets for there very peaceful religion.

Imagine if it had been a muslim kidnapped and tortured by French Jews.

Imagine if they called the parents of a muslim, and recited verses from Jdg 15:14-17 to them with the torture of their child in the background.

Well then the MSM in France could finally be sensibly outraged and print something about the anti-semitism ... toward muslims.
