"...Once there are Islamic financial institutions and linked transportation infrastructure, how long will it be before Muslims insist that the state and business direct all their monetary dealings with Muslims through these institutions, for example, boycotting businesses with Jewish connections en route? How long before Muslims, extending the logic of their concentration in places like Bradford and Leicester, seek to establish their own law within these areas, the germ of a state within a state? And how diverse would such a state be?"

The goal of Islamists, following in the footsteps of Muhammad is to create the Islamic kingdom of God on earth.OK, who is gonna tell the President Bush. He's a good man...but a little overcome with PC (gotta run the country and all that).
PC is the number #1 aid to the enemy!

This article is pure nonsense and was probably influenced by the wacko leftists like Hillary and Dean.
The security of our ports is not threatened by this deal. If Middle Eastern Countries were a threat, then why hasn't Kuwait done anything as they own one of the port companies?
This is a brilliant political move by Bush to strengthen our alliance with a key ally in the war on terror.
All conservatives do the President a disservice by regurtitaging the lefty talking points.
I encourage everyone to write and call the president and tell him to stand firm on this deal no matter what the lieberal media and their polls lie about.

"OK, who is gonna tell the President Bush. He's a good man...but a little overcome with PC (gotta run the country and all that)." You're right, and Bush is, and continues to be, under an incredible amount of pressure from global business interests. Maintaining a "vibrant global econonmy" and all that.
In my opinion, all these high roller Evangelical pastors who have such unprecedented access to the White House should be moderating this; ethics and principles; longterm national and cultural security being balanced with our partand Israel'spart in a global economy.

Welcome to Free Republic.
"The security of our ports is not threatened by this deal...."
It isn't about "the security of our ports." It's about the wider goals of Islamism and the burgeoning global economy.

Geeez, you have an interesting posting history over the last two days. Registered at Free Republic to shore up the ports deal. You're pretty skillful at the manipulative, coercive argument, too.
I like Bush. So does pretty much everybody else around here. Nonetheless, the ports deal has exposed a serious vulnerability in the War of Ideas against radical Islam in the Administration, your insistance on a leftist influence in the dabate notwithstanding.

How many islamic countries are there? Is it 55 or 57?
Is the West to say, We will not do business with any of them? That we will freeze out any investment from islamic sources? Have no financial dealings with them other than purchasing their oil?
I really can't see that happening.
Can anyone?

I fail to see the significance of a financial derivative for World Domination just because it happens to conform to the Koran? The problem only comes in when they try to tell me my interest-bearing bank CD is no good.
And owning port terminals in the US or anywhere else becomes lost money if it threatens security. They can't take it with them anywhere. Dubai is not necessarily to own.

OK, who is gonna tell the President Bush.
I am sure he knows. "free traders" think that if America gives enough of its wealth away, foreign countries will benefit by behaving peacefully.

The significance is the expansion of the influence of islamic law - sharia. In Africa the muslims are implementing sharia criminal law, complete with cutting-off-of-hands and stoning adulterers. In Canada, the muslims are demanding sharia arbitration for family law matters, with a corresponding removal of women's rights. A recent poll in the UK showed 40% of muslims want local sharia government.
Now we are witnessing the expansion of Sharia into financial markets - it is extremely significant.
