Anyone that is silly enough to deny the Venona Documents, which exposed communist infiltration in govt, has got to be either stupid or a communist themselves.
According to the Edward R. Murrow Center for the Advancement of Public Diplomacy at Tufts University, Edward Murrow had at least one communist working for him while he attacked Senator McCarthy. Yes, Murrow was working with the Communist Party in an effort to destroy Senator McCarthy's attempts to stop communist subversion of the U.S. govt.
The archives also contain correspondence relating to an article that appeared in Look magazine titled The Man, the Myth, the McCarthy Fighter. There was chilling pieces of anti-semitism by Murrow in this hate mail as well. One reads: I hate all dirty thieving hypocritical traitorous kikes. Murrow, much like the rest of the extreme left, hated Israel and the Jews eager for a home state of their own.
Murrow was a hardcore left-wing degenerate who spent as much time as possible in using Senator McCarthy footage to make the Senator look as bad as was possible. Murrow ignored the Senator's successes in locating communists and other security risks and removing them from office. Remember, govt. service is a privelidge not a right. And throughtout the 30's and early 50's, the Democrats filled the govt. with hundreds if not thousands of security risks who betrayed our country and gave the plans for advanced weapons to the Soviets.
Murrow didn't care that he was making a mockery of the only Senator with enough courage to stand up and face down these traitors. Murrow only cared about ratings and fulfilling the desires of the U.S. Communist Party. He was funded by the Soviets in an effort to insure that these traitors remained in power.
Anyone who had any doubts about this matter need only read the Venona Documents and a number of other well written materials that expose the traitors who betrayed America.
Do any of you freepers have more detail on Murrow to post here?
New info about Murrow. The press considers him an icon so there is good reason to consider him as an objective reporter and newsman.
Did remember hearing dreamboat Annie Coulter mentioning the Venona papers.

The anti-Semitic quote is NOT by Murrow, but from mail sent TO Murrow, as described below:
"The Mount Holyoke archives also contain correspondence relating to an article that appeared in Look magazine titled The Man, the Myth, the McCarthy Fighter. Most of the letters are congratulatory, but Albright was chilled to find pieces of hate mail as well. One, addressed to Red Ed, reads: I hate all dirty thieving hypocritical traitorous kikes."

You might want to read the article in NRO by William Buckley(12/6/05), "Murrow vs. McCarthy". Forgive my saying so but if you are extolling McCarthy as an exemplary example of American patriotism and Murrow as a communist dupe I think you've become the victim of someone's conspiracy theory. McCarthy represented the nadir of American political life and has been universally condemned by everyone from Dwight Eisenhower to Eleanor Roosevelt. In historical perspective he became truly non-partisan: condemned by all parties and all decent people.
I know the reputation Ann has developed as a rabble rouser but I think that is just her publicity schtick: the book is very heavily researched and has reams of documentation and footnotes.
Sorry, I don't have any pictures of Ann...
Cheers!
I also follow a personal rule that has always proven right: anyone demonized by the media to a significant degree (eg., McCarthy, Nixon, Reagan, Bush) is usually an outstanding conservative or a successful antidemocrat and someone I like and, anyone worshipped by the media is almost always a detestable liar and or socialist (eg., x42, McCain, Her Heinous, Adlai Stevenson).
I appreciate your honesty here. As to McCarthy I would submit that he is a worthy American at least. Now I know there is a lot of sentiment against him and it does get framed as "McCarthy is after your rights and freedoms" but I do see that he was above board on his attempts to go after communism. Now, I will also agree that I do not know everything about him, but other than opinion against him the so-called "eviodence" that he was merely tromping on peoples rights has not been shown to me.
No one would dispute the menace of communist infiltration and the need to eliminate it; however, by acting as a demagogue and using the tactics of character assassination, guilt by association, and fabricated hearsay "evidence", McCarthy discredited himself and his cause. This is why he was censored by the Senate. It has also become known that his acute alcoholism played a role in his out-of-control behaviour. His chief advisor was just as bad. If you don't believe it, read a biography of Roy Cohn. Some of his methods were not unlike those used in the Stalinist purges. The point is that in a democratic society there are proper ways of achieving laudable goals. The doctrine that the end justifies any means is not one of them. As with so many demagogues we see also with McCarthy that the means become the end.
I'm sorry too that you don't have any pictures of Ann! A good photo of her can almost make you forget any political opinion and think of much more mundane distractions! Best,
