Duluth, MN-Sunday's edition of The Family Circus incited violent riots among white people because of the introduction of a new playmate for Billy named Mohammed. To better understand why mobs have formed, psychologist Cliff Stevens explained, "For over 40 years, The Family Circus has never had a person of color in its sweet glaze of homogeneity. It's been the only whitebread refuge left in our society; the last stronghold of the innocent past. When confronted by today's moral ambiguity, we could always turn to that place frozen in the glorious time of the 50's. A time before those unnecessary civil right movements. Where women wanted to cook; men wanted to do the crossword puzzle, and minorities seemed to stay on their side of town."
A rioter paused between burning effigies of cartoonist Bil Keane and said, "We must kill all who are responsible for this before the Liberals force Andy Capp into A.A., Ritchie Rich to pay his staff living wages, and Archie to become friends with that spook, Casper."
To many, the sun has set on the American 1950's. But others hold hope that with a Republican-led government and Supreme Court we will soon relive the past where freedoms, emotions, and sexuality are repressed--and love it.

Doh. I see now that brokennewz is a satire site. And I was looking all over to see if I could find a copy of that Family Circus cartoon.
