I remarked to my husband that Lynne Cheney did not look well tonight. I wasn't it sure is she looked sick or just stressed.

Off the top of my head, the position becomes vacant.

The president then gets to nominate a new VP, which is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Order of succession only applies in case the office of the President becomes vacant. It is President, VP, Speaker of the House, President pro tempore of the Senate, then each of the Cabinet Secretaries in the order that their department was created.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

He even remembered to move the mic so he wouldn't be overheard calling Christian Amanpour a a first class Clymer.

Thanks, found it in the Constitution, Amendment XXV, Section 2:

Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Since Tenn has a Dem Gov, Frist's replacement in the Senate would be a Dem. This fact moves me from 99.9% sure this story is BS to 100%.

Frist isn't that guy.

No, Frist is not the best choice. But it would be a good opportinity for the GOP if Bush made a good choice.
