Not only do the worlds 600 million automobiles depend on oil, but also do almost every other critical aspect of industrial civilization: airlines, chemicals, plastics, medicines, agriculture, heating, etc. Almost all of the increase in world food productivity over the past 50 years is attributable to increases in the use of oil-derived additives: pesticides; herbicides; fungicides; fertilizers; and machinery. Oil is the one commodity without which civilization cannot exist.

Your life must be so trouble-free. It amazes me, when I think of my grandmother, who came to this country alone on a boat at age 17, and then brought her whole family over, that in our TV-remote age, one click is too much to ask.
I am not a famous person. You should learn a little about me and where I am coming from in confronting an issue with such serious consequences as this. Maybe read a few of my other posts on this and on other issues. If a few people decide they would like to visit my weblog again, what's the harm?
