I was wondering when another thread was gonna get started. The other one was getting a little long in the tooth. :-)

Thank you for the new thread. I rather like the "1 new thread per week" idea... much easier to work with. :)

Malsua, Ken in Texas, Andrewksu, LSimpson and kingu have all reached this milestone, and Uriah will join them next week.

It appears Uriah has already done so...

It took a while to get all my systems converted. Previously I had my own team for all my computers (team zprc). As I finished old WUs, I converted them to the freeper team. Took a while, but I'm all Freeper now. Wonder if there is a way to credit my team zprc WUs (249) to the Freeper team.

As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:

Top 400 by next Friday Top 300 by the end of the month

Lets not overlook two other stats - we're also consistently in the top 75 of overall points per day average - currently at #52. This is out of ALL folding teams that are active. We're also #65 in total points per week.

The biggest hurdle, is just going to keep folding long enough to accumulate enough total points to pass the big dogs, who have been folding a lot longer than we have.

"Do-Hang" indeed ! No Klutz intended !

I too am proud to join such an extremely talented and right-minded group.

I have dreamed of securing many blades for judicious slicing and folding...

perhaps in my future...

"On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 487"

Movin' on up - YEAH!

Unfortunately - I'm not.  My 2nd CPU (a P-II, IBM box) crashed and burned yesterday - won't even power on.  Probably the power supply, but I might have cooked the CPU or MB.  It had only been folding about a week or so.  What's strange is that my main system (which I built) cooked my Gainward GForce 4 (TI4200 with 128mb ram) about a week after I started it on folding.  The video card has it's own fan onboard, and the system chasis is aluminum and never gets over 92o, and the AMD Athlon XP 2100 processor has a great cooler keeping it around 120o (both measured in Farenheit) - weird.  I never had any problem with hardware before (and I don't overclock - need stability for my business - of course my main system is over 3 years old and I won't even talk about the P-II, LOL).

I didn't have any other apps running on the P-II except NAV & Zone Alarm.   I run all sorts of business programs on the AMD, but nothing graphics intensive.  I don't have time to troubleshoot them right now (I just installed a back-up video card for the main system & continued folding and working, (like now - posting to FR, heheh).  The other one's offline though.  When I have time, I'll install Mepis (Linux) to another old system which has an older AMD processor and get it online.

I've got to get more CPU's online - I'm stuck in the low 70s rank on the team, but I'll have to wait until I can afford an 8 port KVM switch before I can try and bring on more.  (We might be in 1st place by then, LOL).

But I can brag about folding more WUs than all but the top 38 on our team + BoT who has an amazing 117 and is not in the top 46.  (I know, I know - it's the points, stupid, LOL).

Anyway - my congrats to all FR folders - we're whipping DU butt - they'll never catch us.

I seem to be having problems running this.
I have 3 linux boxes and none of them seem to to run the client. It gets to this point:

[02:58:57] Completed 0 out of 500000 steps (0%)

And stops. I do have a firewall and it may be stopping it.

Any ideas?

The last QMD fold my main system was crunching decided that it had what it needed and stopped to called home and send the results after only 23% completion. Then it loaded a new QMD. Anyone have that happen before? I suppose it arrived at some calculation or point in the fold that it did not like and sent what it had. And my overclocked PC's SpeedFan log (freeware utility) shows CPU temps below 60C. So I don't think it was hardware related??
