This all reminds me so much of the 70s Progressive political scene. There are always these conniving people who are angling for their 15 minutes or for some paid sinecure on the back of the true believers. It is rarely the warm bodies who discover they are out only for themselves. The cadre is so full of those who have successfully accomplished what the tyros can only dream about, that they usually spot their kindred a mile or two away.

There is only so much slop in the trough at any one time, so the big pigs make sure to keep any newbies away. Of course, they are also always nipping at each other and scarfing each other's food any chance they get. but then, of course, they are pigs.

This post brought back memories of the events that disgusted me on the left.

Thanks, PJ. I love that now these controlling self servers can have their machinations and cat fights right out in the open. My fervent prayer for decades has been: "May they reveal themselves to the world for what they really are." DUFU should be nominated for a Congressional Medal of Honor!
