I don't know how many of you out there are into astronomy. I find it utterly fascinating. Here is a link that you might find interesting. I check it out every day. Let me know if you would like me to post the picture with comments every day and ping it to your space nuts. Thanks DG

the APOD used to be posted every day here, but the FReeper who did it got ill (I think) and had to stop. No one ever picked it up.

If you want to post it daily I think you will find a lot who would be interested. If you do, please add me to your ping list for it.

Hey look at this one. Is this a real picutre or just an artist;s idea of what it would look like? What is the blue stuff in the background?

I used to own a 17.5" Coulter Odyssey II dob. I miss that thing.

If I wanted to create a ping list, wouldn't I just copy names and save them in a word document? Then copy/paste them in my reply? Or is there a better way. KevinDavis already has a space ping list.

I post a private reply to myself with all the the names on the ping list. Then I just go into my Freeper Mail, open the mail with the list, right click and copy the list. Then go to the thread and send a messag copying the pinged ones in the TO: field

Great Hornytoads. that is a huge scope. Mine aren,t that big

This Milky Way was shot my my good friend using a 50mm lens at F2.8 with Fuji 400 speed film. Exposed 20 minutes. I forget the tracking mechanism he used.

you could do that, or just post it to yourself in FReepmail, or just post it on your profile page (which for good or bad would let others access the list)

Why did you ever get rid of it?

I was unemployed and had to pay the bills.

I'd buy it back now in a second if I could.

The best view I ever got was at our local astronomy club.

(Background) 12.5 f/7 that was originally owned by NASA and used during the Apollo program to help locate a lunar landing site.

My old dob didn't have any kind of tracking, so I was never able to take photographs.
