First, some real Headlines:
The NY Sun reported yesterday that a top Israeli general for the past several years said that Saddam Hussein moved his Weapons of Mass Destruction to Syria. The Israeli officer, Lieutenant General Moshe Yaalon, asserted that Saddam spirited his chemical weapons out of the country on the eve of the war. "He transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria," General Yaalon told The New York Sun over dinner in New York on Tuesday night. "No one went to Syria to find it."
From July 2002 to June 2005, when he retired, General Yaalon was chief of staff of the Israel Defense Force, the top job in the Israeli military, analogous to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the American military. He is now a military fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

This is old news....this has been all over the internet for a couple of years now. I have seen satellite images online that purport to show russian transport vehicles accompanied by non uniformed Russian agents and Saddam's Royal Guard crossing the border heavily loaded with undetermined cargo just prior to the war. Of course, I can't vouch for the authenticity of the photographs, but the story was accompanied by an eye witness account from and Israeli journalist that was based in Damascus at the time. I think the Russians were selling weapons to Saddam in violation of the sanctions and wanted to get the big stuff out of there when it became clear that we would be in Baghdad soon in order to avoid an incident. They are blatantly selling arms to Iran right now which tends to bolster this story. Assad had just finished building some huge bunkers that would have made a great storage facility. I don't know why this hasn't gotten more traction than it has. I would think this is worth breaking into the Natalie Holloway coverage for a couple of minutes at least.
I'm willing to bet that the WMDs that our good buddy Quadaffi (sp?) in Libya turned in because of his "change of heart" came from Iraq as well. I don't buy it that he had them and Saddam didn't. How perfect! Turn them in to show the world what a great guy you are but all along, they really came from Saddam!
I wasn't trying to get on you for posting it...I think I posted some links about this awhile ago though...I will look for them and see what I find. I guess it wasn't reported widely because it is so hard to verify...
