OK- went to the NAACP site and did a search.

Searched for Cory Maye:
"Your search - Cory Maye - did not match any documents. "

Searched for just Maye:
"Your search - Maye - did not match any documents."

Searched for Hattiesburg:
Three hits- including one that gives contact info for their office in Hattiesburg. The other two do not mention Mr. Maye or his case.

Nuthin'

Oh- but they do have a big "Save Tookie" article on their home page.

"local law enforcement officials have refused to say what the officers were searching for or whether Mayes was a suspect in the raid."

Uh-huh. More cops tricks?

Crooked cops and judges are now the standard in America.

Overheated rhetoric seems standard for you.

Announced their presence in unit #1, found nothing, moved to a side door which was actually unit#2, entered forcifully while not announcing their presence or identity perhaps because they thought it was the same unit, officer shot by tenant in unit#2.

Possibly. The jury heard all of the facts and rendered a verdict.

One of the blogs talked with two jury members who decided to convict based on reasons such as not liking Maye's defense attourney.

Slimy on the part of these hick town cops, for sure.

I recall an incidence that happened in a small Eastern, New Mexico town, some twenty years ago. A man was pursued for speeding and some fifteen miles west of town, by that time the pursuit had grown to several cars; they shot his tires down and he wound up in a pasture, far from the road. Rather than waiting him out they Bonnie and Clyded the car-speeder shot to death.

I don't even recall there being an investigation- same Cops probably still on the streets of that town.

That's slimy!

All the facts that were admitted by the judge, anyway. If the judge made errors hopefully the appeals court will correct them.

"Oh- but they do have a big "Save Tookie" article on their home page."

So much for priorities. I guess poor Mr. Maye doesn't have the $$ or political pull of a former gang leader (and he's no OJ or M. Jackson). How disgusting.

Kudos to you for checking the NAACP web site.

If these are the facts and the police did not declare themselves on the way in ...

And, who do we believe? Did he have a record? Criminals lie automatically, and LEOs are not always 100% truthful, especially when in the CYA mode.

Very interesting. Having no warrant would seem to me an illegal act being committed. Any civilian would at the least be looking at a felony charge.

If the officer was unarmed as stated in the article then I think the jury might have decided on that aspect.

Double standard to say the least if true.

I haven't Googled "Cory Maye" yet, but I did a search with Clusty and got lots of hits- both in the 'Web' and 'Blogs' categories.

Going to take a while to sift through it all.

If the judge didn't, hopefully justice will be rendered swiftly.

Agreed -

However "cowboy" police officers play CYA all the time as well -

There seems to have been very little need for a assault on this house. That does seem clear.

Further, I've seen nothing that would indicate this young man had any sort of criminal record.

If he did have a record, stating that fact in the story would interfere with the leftist anti-cop agenda of most of the MSM...

The man your hero murdered was a K-9 officer.

Never said he was my hero. Try again. I like real cops, it's those who profit from the drug business I don't particularly care for, but I certainly don't wish them dead. Just wish they were in a more honest line of work.

This officers death is but a small price to pay, to keep the revenue flowing to those profiting from the WOD. Some may use it as a call for more revenue to flow into their pockets.

It's a self-serving assumption.

A man asleep in his own home. His baby is one occupant. If the other occupant had not been his wife/girlfriend, I'm sure the article would have given it passing comment, purely on the basis of the oddness of the situation

In any event, I would have voted to acquit
