Here we go folks...Time Magazine has published a story questioning the actions of the Air Marshals in the shooting death of the man who claimed to have a bomb at Miami Airport on 12/7/2005:
At least one passenger aboard American Airlines Flight 924 maintains the federal air marshals were a little too quick on the draw when they shot and killed Rigoberto Alpizar as he frantically attempted to run off the airplane shortly before take-off.
"I don't think they needed to use deadly force with the guy," says John McAlhany, a 44-year-old construction worker from Sebastian, Fla. "He was getting off the plane." McAlhany also maintains that Alpizar never mentioned having a bomb.
"I never heard the word 'bomb' on the plane," McAlhany told TIME in a telephone interview. "I never heard the word bomb until the FBI asked me did you hear the word bomb. That is ridiculous." Even the authorities didn't come out and say bomb, McAlhany says. "They asked, 'Did you hear anything about the b-word?'" he says. "That's what they called it."
And you just have to love this part...
He says he saw Alpizar eating a sandwich in the boarding area before getting on the plane. He looked normal at that time, McAlhany says. He thinks the whole thing was a mistake: "I don't believe he should be dead right now."
I'm sure thats what the passangers of the planes that hit the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and flight 93, said just before the terrorist took over the planes and killed them and thousands more on 9/11.
Hate to say I told you so...but, I told you so.
Hat Tip: The Horseback Riders
you cry bomb...your reach into your pack as if your going to detonate it.......and your shot dead....do not pass go....do not collect $200. Simple.....learn it, live it, love it.
"It's Official... MSNM Is Now Questioning Air Marshals Actions"
With the new information that is coming out today, so am I, quite frankly. I'm not buying into the groupthink. I won't rush to judgement here but it's become clear that there is a discrepancy. That can only go in 2 directions, mistake or lie.
I will wait and see.
R-U-S-S-E-R-T will do a guns kill people discussion this weekend just to give his mind a rest from the impending....

Well, he may not have heard it, but it seems (from other reports) a dozen or so others heard him yelling he had a bomb. And in such an environment (many people, enclosed area, jet fuel, agitated man screaming and reaching into a bag) shooting seemed the best protective move for all.
Didn't someone call into Rush or Sean today saying that Katie the Meth Queen had already started this morning??
by asking if, "...couldn't he have shot some other part like a leg or arm to DISABLE him INSTEAD of shoting to kill him??"
What a Twit!--I bet if SHE was attacked by a violent man..and her "security gaurd" ( she has escorting her to & from work) didn't SHOT TO KILL he'd be FIRED!! and she would make front page news about it too!
Libbies....gotta be mugged before they learn their lesson.
DAB
Yeah?!?!?!?
Well, I think they did!
End of discussion, Mr. Construction Worker.
A witness from Norman, Oklahoma, said that just before Joel Hinrichs blew up, Joel was apparently manipulating something in his backpack.
I hope you enjoy your stay at FR, I suspect it won't be a long one.
--by the time my newspaper got here this AM, the spin was "usage of firearms may have to be reassessed"---that had to have been written yesterday--
In other news today, this Iraqi bus driver was not quick enough on the draw.
If there had been a bomb, and the Marshals had not shot, then they would be bitching, also.
I have a sister in law who has been diagnosed with bi-polar for over 30 years. She can have swings of lucidity or "out there somewhere" in the blink of YOUR eye. (She blinks very SLLOOWWLY) One never knows where she is at all times in her mind.
If this man was medically impaired, then why was he on this trip in the first place? If close places were going to set him off, then he doesn't belong on the plane in the first place. I , for one, am VERY glad I wasn't on that plane. How about the permanent damage other passengers have had inflicted on their memories from this man and HIS actions?
Oh, I forgot- There is no personal responsibility anymore, is there.???
I am totally behind these officers. They acted in the best interest of all the other passengers, the plane, and the persons in the airport.
I have been thinking about this all day. This killing is a tragedy for this man's family.
However, simply stated,I am glad the marshalls reacted the way they did. This sent a message loud and clear to all terrorists that we mean business and will not screw around with anyone after 9/11.
One other thought to pass on. My oldest boy came over for dinner tonight. He is a senior in college and more left than right. However, he laughed and said that some of the professors were already blaming Bush. However, he called them maroons. The tide is turning.

And if he actually had a bomb...and detonated the bomb...and killed several innocent people...and the air marshals did NOTHING...then what? |
We talked about this in my American class today. Kids were saying that he was obviously a mental patient who wasn't serious and that the marshals had no reason to shoot him. No cause for alarm at all, so they said.
For years Bin Laden said he was going to attack us but Bill Clintoon didn't think he was serious either.
