Both sides have suffered casualties. US soldiers crossed over after Damascus was given an ultimatum Thursday, Nov. 24, to hand over a group of senior commanders belonging to Abu Musab al Zarqawis al Qaeda force. According to US intelligence, the group had fled to Syria to escape an American attack in Mosul. Syrian border guards opened fire on the American force.

No, but man I hope it's true.
I've been saying for a long time that what's need is a Cambodia-style "incursion" into Syria.

taking Syria out is crucial if we want to *really* get Syrious about Iran, and if we do take them out, Iran may fold without a shot.

None of those details make any sense. It doesn't sound like hot pursuit across the border, in which things could conceivably get messy.
If we were to make a deliberate assault into Syria, there wouldn't be any 'locked in battle' about it. We'd go in, try and capture the targets, and flatten anyone that got in the way.

Wake me when a legit source reports this (although Debka was the first on that recent "almost Zarqawi" raid, to give 'em credit). :-)
And a happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Casualty means injured but not necessarily fatally so.

Is Debka not the most reliable of sources?
