Last Friday on MSNBCs The Abrams Report, Hoda Kotb made an appearance to plug that evenings NBC Dateline program centering on John Lennons murderer, Mark Chapman. Ms. Kotb said that in listening to 100 hours of audiotape she was struck by Chapmans being so meticulous. Hes so calm. Hes so measured; all the while he is plotting out one of the most heinous crimes of the century.
Lennons killing was tragic, as most killings are, but categorizing it as one of the most heinous crimes of the century is a gross overstatement.
This is, after all, the century in which we saw millions of people killed by Mao. Millions of people killed by Stalin. Millions of people killed by Hitler. And what of the more than 900 who died in 1978 at the hands of Leftist Reverend Jim Jones in Guyana? Then there were Leopold and Loeb, Susan Smith, Charles Manson, Andrew Cunanan, Timothy McVeigh, Dennis Rader, Charles Whitman, Richard Speck, John Wayne Gacy, and Charles Starkweather. Moreover, there were Columbine, Heavens Gate, the Zebra Killers, the Tylenol murders, the Birmingham church bombing and the Atlanta youth murders. The list could go on and on.
The hagiography of John Lennon continues. Dateline describes that fateful day when a generations voice was silenced. I cant speak for other Baby Boomers, but Lennon was surely not my voice. Yes, his murder was dreadful, but it certainly never will qualify as one of the most heinous crimes of the century.
Meanwhile, Yoko is standing right next to him, and not a single bullet.
Yeah... if you're a 14 yearold, pot-smoking doofus.
Or a member of the MSM.
Think he spared Yoko because of her incredible beauty and amazing contributions to culture?
Oh sure, look at these words, he is a saint to the left, and they are gearing up for the big push for their coming world utopia....working on the little ones under 20 who may not have parents playing them the ol stuff.
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
Imagine no heaven...heaven is now and on Earth, they are working toward making it all right and mocking as often as they can anyone or things who has sights on the Biblical Heaven God of the Bible spoke of.
No countries, no religion, just peace - Yes that IS going to be THE End Times message and here it comes!
-Jules Winnfield, 'Pulp Fiction'
But think how bad it would have been if he had been a good musician.
Not a Beatles fan. No offense if you are.
Wow, who knew. Well more evidence that certain someones know well what to say and do to get votes from the crowd that believes in the B I B L E. So many giving it lip service while we are still a functioning democracy. But then again folks not only don't know but don't give a hoot who is driving Johnny and Suzy's bus or what their school teachers are teaching them, no one cares about their own kids, let alone who their politicians are, or well...just sheep being sheep, being led by the Trust Me Crew!
No offense taken. I've sometimes wondered why, as is often claimed, Lennon was the musical genius of the Beatles, his solo career was so poor why Paul McCartney has cranked out so many hits over the years.
Not many of us, apparently.
Agreed, Paul was the hitmaker post-Beatles, but we're coming up on that time of the year that reminds us that both Paul and John could suck equally--Christmas. Both of them wrote absolutely horrid Christmas songs.
At least Lennon had an excuse. He thought the Beatles were more popular than Jesus as I recall.
I respect the Beatles in that they broke loose a new kind of music. But I never cared for their tunes.
In the same way, the Wright Brothers are credited with being the first ones to get a plane to fly. But does not mean they would go on to build the best airplanes.
"Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man."
I was reminded of these lyrics after Lennon's *purple Rolls Royce limosine* was auctioned for a million dollars. Too bad he didn't believe in what he sang.
Yeah, power to the people, man. Especially the people who own a Rolls. Or three or four.
