MSNBC cancels Connected Coast to Coast, Entertainment shows:

From: Kaplan, Rick (NBC Universal, MSNBC)
Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 1:57 PM
To: @MSNBC Everyone
Subject: ANNOUNCEMENT

I wanted to share with all of you some news about a realignment of our dayside coverage. Beginning after the first of the year, we are going to increase our live news coverage on the weekends. With the addition of our new program with Connie Chung and Maury Povich, we will be in live or topical news programming from 8am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. This more than doubles our current live weekend programming! In order to accomplish this, we will be shifting some resources in the coming month. After a year of great programs, "Connected: Coast to Coast" will have it's final telecast on Friday, December 9. I'm very proud of this program and the work of Ron, Monica and Sharon Newman and their entire team. They brought smart coverage and internet reporting to cable news and set a very high standard of coverage. As for the future of that time slot we'll have some exciting new programming at noon which we'll be announcing soon. The weekend of December 17th will mark the final airings of MSNBC at the Movies and MSNBC Entertainment Hot List. I want to thank Sharon Tay, Scott Leon and his team for all their hard work on the program over the last year. They did a terrific job and we should all be very proud of what they accomplished.

So now they'll be telling lies 7 days a week as opposed to 5 days a week.

I'm waiting for the day MSNBC cancels MSNBC. What a worthless use of airwaves.

I'd sooner watch the test pattern.

Is Maury Povich going to do segments on "Who is my baby's daddy?" on MSNBC now? Those are good shows - really educational about DNA and stuff - and would bring the standards of MSNBC up quite a bit....

Connie Chung and Maury Povich? I hope Maury takes his journalistic skills he has shown over the years to this new show. An hour of who's my baby's daddy would triple the journalistic integrity of MSNBC.

Tell Monica to bring her blond tresses back to Fox, and I'm sure Jr. can find a bathhouse somewhere to fight off boredom.

Here's a dirty little secret about MSNBC that almost none of you have occasion to know. Three weeks ago, my wife canceled the Dish Network in her name, and it was a few days before I had a new account in my name, with a new service.

In the meantime, a small number of channels continued to come in through Dish Network (which was no longer being paid). Here's the list of the absolutely free channels: religious ones, shopping network ones, advertising for Dish Network, and yes, you guessed it, MSNBC.

These people are flat-out giving it away. And even then, they run a very poor last against all the other news channels. It's a real high level of BAD when you leave your product out in public where anyone can pick it up. And most just step over it and keep on going. That's how BAD MSNBC is. LOL.
