On a similar note... When I was a gun dealer, I used to sell SCADS of corrosive 9mm ammo. It had a bad reputation for causing your weapon to fall apart. But I shot it all the time out of a really nice Browning HP. BUT when I got it home, the weapon was cleaned in a bucket of HOT water, and Dawn dishwashing liquid. Then, it went into the oven at 250F (minus the nice wood grips) long enough to evaporate all the water...then gun oil on all the right places.
I NEVER had a problem shooting corrosive ammo, and after it was discovered that I shot it in my Browning, everybody wanted to know my "secret" of preventing it from reducing my gun to a rusting pile of scrap. After telling people, word got out and I started selling LOTS of the stuff.

Think about the "pores" in the metal....ie clean a firearm after a range day, clean it till ya get clean patches visable......next day run a patch through it.....dirty black carbon, etc etc ....
My CHL rig gets cleaned three days after range day.
Check it out....and let me know what ya find !....:o)
